Flat roofing

The design of a flat roof means a roof with a slope. The slope is usually 1 to 12 degrees.

There are such types of flat roofs:

Undoubtedly, the flat roof system has a lot of advantages, but there is one negative fact that reduces everything to nothing. This is the need for frequent repairs. When repairing the covering of a flat roof, as a rule, roofing materials of roll type are used, which are completely fixed to the base of the roof. Due to this they form a solid roofing layer, which protects well from water.

But despite of everything, at qualitative repair the flat roof can serve many years. And for this you just need to use modern materials and technologies.

Flat roof repair options

There are two options for repairing a flat roof:

1. Remove the old cover / p>

It is often necessary to solve this problem in this way. This is due to the fact that the roof has been repaired many times and it simply can not be further repaired.

Reusable repair leads to the fact that the composition of a flat roof turns into a multi-layer, and in the layers themselves there are numerous cracks and stratifications. Another argument for dismantling the old roof is the destroyed structure of the thermal insulation layer due to moisture ingress into the interior.

2. Restore the roof without dismantling the flat roof

In this case, swellings and layers that exfoliate, open, level the surface of already cut out areas, then seal all the seams on the roof.

Sequence of repair of a flat soft roof

  1. Clear the surface of the soft roof from dirt, debris, swelling, dangling pieces of waterproofing.
  2. Apply a polymer primer of a liquid consistency.
  3. The primer partially dissolves the top layer of bitumen. A continuous surface consisting of a bitumen base and an adhesive polyurethane surface is created.
  4. The polymerization of the primer occurs 3 to 5 hours.
  5. Apply a one-component polyurethane mastic to the bitumen-polyurethane membrane that formed.
  6. Without waiting for the polymerization, lay the reinforcement layer over the mastic, which consists of a thin non-woven fabric. Its density is usually 20 - 60 g / m. sq. m. The laid layer is drowned in polyurethane mastic.
  7. Apply a second layer of polyurethane mastic over the reinforcing fabric.
  8. Wait for the polymerization of the reinforced polyurethane mastic layer.
  9. On top of the membrane, apply a special polyurethane coating, which is high-strength and protects the roof.

Flat roof technology

There are several technologies for flat roofing:

1. Soft roofing

Soft roof is a roof, which is made of bitumen roll materials. Its advantages are reliability, economy, and also the duration of operation.

2. PVC membranes

PVC-membrane is a modern roofing material, which consists of two layers of PVC. Reinforced polyester mesh. Its advantages:

3. Inverse roofing

Inversion roof is called inverted roof. This is a warm roof, in which the thermal insulation layer is located on top of the waterproofing. The main function of this roof is the influx of heat insulation plates that are on the surface of the roofing.

4. Breathable roofing

A breathing roof was invented in order to counteract the formation of swellings.

5. Operated roofing

The name speaks for itself - it's a roof that can be used for any purpose. Usually it is a large open area. On it you can make parking for cars, a garden, etc.

6. Green roofing

The green roof is the roof on which the lawn is planted. It is also possible to plant bushes and even trees. The undisputed advantage of such a roof can be considered an increase in green spaces in the city.

The device of any kind of flat roof is not so simple, so if you are not completely sure that you can do it qualitatively - contact the specialists.
