Gallhepiggen

For many of us, Norway is a country of beautiful fjords , untrodden forests and amazing seafood. But do not forget that the state is mostly mountainous, and therefore, it is interesting for climbers and ski lovers. The mountain range, which occupies a vast territory, is the Scandinavian mountains, the summit of which is Gallhepiggen.

The height of Mount Gallagepiggen

Of course, no one will compare the Scandinavian mountains to the Himalayas or Cordilleras - the mountain system of Norway is not included in the ranking of the highest. But even here there are giants. For example, the highest peak, Gallhepiggen, has a height of 2469 m above sea level. In its vicinity there are about 250 peaks, which are smaller in size, on which local mountain climbers perfect their skills.

Gallhepiggen on the map of the country

So, the highest point of Norway is located in the south-west of the peninsula, in the Jotunheimen mountain range. Mostly these mountains consist of a stone of volcanic origin, "gabbro". From the same we make a black with greenish impregnations finishing tile.

The region where Mount Gallekepggen is located is very lively, despite its inaccessibility. There are numerous tourist sites here. Residents of the country, as well as visitors can try themselves in an uneasy business - climbing an ice mountain. Geographical coordinates of Gallehepiggen allow to name this mountainous region quite favorable for tourism. In winter there are no strong frosts and winds.

How to get to the peak of Gallhepiggen?

The one who decided to climb, chooses one of the two routes:

In the first case, the road can take from 12 hours to several days, depending on the preparation. Many tourists, climbing a difficult path, scatter on the top of the campsite and live in it for a week, and after they go down.

In the second case it will be necessary to reach the barrier by car, where it is necessary to pay about $ 12 for the fare. In the shelter of Juvasshytta you can have a snack, leave the car and go on foot. The road is mostly sloping, and only the last part of it will require maximum effort, agility and caution, as it passes through the glacier . There are numerous cracks in it, so for safety it is necessary to go in bundles of two or more people. There are, however, desperate tourists who overcome the last meters of the path alone, risking life and health.

The one who climbed to the top of Gallehepiggen, having overcome a difficult path, awaits a pleasant surprise - a small cozy cafe-shelter at the peak, from the windows of which you can admire the beauty of the mountains, sipping fragrant coffee.

Going down, do not miss the opportunity to be photographed with reindeer grazing in the foothills, and visit an artificial tunnel dug out in the glacier in which the Klimpark 2469 museum is located.
