The State Military Museum


The State Military Museum of Malta was founded and opened in 1975. It is located in Valletta , namely the fortress of St. Elma and enjoys great popularity among tourists from different corners of the globe. History of the museum

The building in which the museum is now located, was once a storehouse of ammunition. Fort St. Elmo is so powerfully fortified that it managed to withstand the Great Siege of 1565, when Malta was trying to capture the Turkish army led by the Sultan. The fortress did not collapse even during the Second World War, when cruel destructive bombardments were conducted. In connection with a large number of significant military events, it was decided to create a museum.
