How are girls christening?

Preparing for a child's baptism is a rather troublesome business. In addition to the list of purchases and the choice of godparents, it is necessary to understand in advance how the child's christening passes, so that nothing of church traditions becomes news for parents on the very day of baptism.

How are girls christening?

  1. In general, according to church rules, parents should not be present at baptism, but since this requirement is not strict, most parents still observe such an important moment personally.
  2. It is worthwhile to approach the church in advance, prepare, and put in order all the participants of the event.
  3. When the priest signs, the godfather is supposed to bring the child to the temple (the girl is traditionally borne by the godmother, the boy is the father). The baby should be naked, wrapped in a white cloth. Presence of a diaper is allowed.
  4. During the sacrament the godparents stand with the baby and candles and repeat all the necessary phrases for the priest, promising to fulfill God's commandments.
  5. Then the priest immerses the baby in the water (do not worry, it's warm).
  6. After this, anointing is performed, the girl is returned to the godmother (the boy would be returned to the godfather).
  7. A cross and a special christening shirt are put on the child.
  8. Then the priest cuts off the hair of the baby in a cross-shaped manner (those who know how the christening happens are not so surprised). Do not worry, cut very tiny strands.
  9. The infant is flocked around the font three times, thus completing the rite of baptism.
  10. After this, the priest brings the boy to the altar, and applies the girl to the icon of the Mother of God.

Knowing how the infant's christening passes, it is worth choosing the time for this rite, when the baby is healthy and does not bother him anything, so that the ceremony would pass quietly and without whims.
