How do I clean my ears?

For some reason, for many years, among numerous parental pairs, there is a deep conviction that both children and adults need to clean their ears as often as possible. And do it by all means with cotton buds, moistened in hydrogen peroxide. Otherwise, the ears become clogged, sulfur fuses are formed in them, inflammatory processes occur, and, in the end, a person may become completely deaf. Is it really so, and how, how and in general can you clean the ears of an adult person and child, you will now find out.

How often and how much better is the ears for an adult and a child?

How often need to clean the ears of an adult and a child, from sulfur and plugs, can they be cleaned with hydrogen peroxide, and is this operation necessary, says the otolaryngologist Svetlana Ivanovna Kravchenko:

- On the parents' question, how often and whether it is possible to clean the child's ears with hydrogen peroxide, I always answer, it is impossible, and that's why. The fact is that under the cleaning of the ears we all mean picking in them with cotton swabs, which in a wide range are sold in stores and even pharmacies. And such mockery of the delicate mucous membrane of our ears is simply unacceptable. You can clean only the outer part of the auricles and the very entrance to the auditory canal. This is done so. In the morning, standing under the shower or just washing, soap a finger and lead them to the auricle. Then wash the soap off your hands and clean your fingers and slowly remove the soap from your ears. Another option, how to wash off soap, is to pour a little water from under the shower in it, shake your head slightly and tilt it so that the water leaves the ear canal itself. To small children, the ears are cleaned after bathing. And it looks like it's no longer a purge to wipe your ears from excess moisture. Used for this are special cotton-gauze tampons with limiters. And no more cleaning is required. In addition, our ears themselves permanently get rid of excess sulfur and dead cells while jaws move. That is, while we talk, chew, laugh or cough, our ears are cleaned themselves.

How to peel ears from sulfuric plugs?

- Svetlana Ivanovna, but how to clean the sulfur fuses in your ears, because you will not mind that such a phenomenon takes place?

"No, I will not object."

- Then tell, please, why they are formed, and how with the given misfortune to struggle?

- There are sulfuric plugs for two main reasons. First, because of some congenital features of the structure of the external auditory canal. For example, with a narrow channel of the ear canal and too thick sulfur. However, this phenomenon is very rare. Secondly, and in the most frequent, precisely because of our wrong attitude to how to clean the ears. After all, the normal cells in the ear are renewed from the tympanic membrane to the external auditory canal. Consequently, sulfur accumulation gradually independently leaves the ear. And when we climb in the ear with a cotton swab, the sulfur is simply pushed back, thickens and turns into a solid cork.

- And how to understand that in the ear a cork has formed, what are the symptoms about it?

- There are three main symptoms that indicate the presence of sulfuric cork. First, a feeling of stuffiness in the ear, especially when water gets into it. Secondly, an unpleasant noise. And, thirdly, hearing the resonance of your own voice.

- Well, and how do you clean your ears from sulfuric cork to a child or an adult?

- By no means alone. If it seems to you that a cork has appeared in the ear, or your child complains about it, immediately go to the doctor for an otolaryngologist. Just a few minutes, and you get rid of trouble, and even a lot of useful advice you get. And with an independent attempt to remove the cork when inability can only be damaged and cause inflammation.

- Well, and the last question, is it possible to peel ears with the use of hydrogen peroxide?

- Yes, it is possible, but only for the doctor's prescription, for example, with a tendency to form sulfur plugs or before you drip a medicine into your ear.

So our conversation with the doctor Otolaryngologist Svetlana Ivanovna Kravchenko is over. It remains only to thank the doctor for the detailed answers and wish everyone, both adults and children, take care of your ears and be healthy.
