How to choose an electric kettle?

"Time is money" - the author of this phrase knew life very well. Household appliances very often save valuable time. A small electric kettle can greatly simplify the process of making tea or coffee, especially if it is chosen competently.

How to choose the right teapot?

To choose a truly safe and reliable teapot, you need to know those aspects that you should pay attention to when choosing it. In order to determine which electric kettle is best, let's take a closer look at its main characteristics.

Material of manufacture

The kettle can be made of plastic, metal or a combination thereof. The most "running" are the plastic models. Plastic is durable enough and light. From plastic you can create teapots of any design, it is reliable. The main thing is to buy a kettle of good quality, because the origin of plastic is very important in the issue of hygiene and safety for human health.

Metal kettles in the ecological sense are better. Serves such a kettle for a long time, and the appearance will save. But the choice of design is small, however, sometimes manufacturers combine this type of teapot with plastic coating. Then all the advantages of a plastic teapot completely have any metal. A metal kettle has one drawback - it gets quite hot. If the house has a child, it is better to choose a model of metal, but with plastic coating, then you will be able to protect yourself and children from possible burns.

The most environmentally friendly type of housing is glass. For health this is an ideal option. Unfortunately, glass teapots are heated no less than metallic ones, and it is very easy to break such a kettle. There are models with plastic coating to protect the glass.

Which heating element of an electric kettle is better?

There are two types of heaters: open and closed. Closed heaters are also called disk heaters. In fact, it looks like a metal bottom. This bottom is the disk. The downside of this heating is its noise during operation. They are slightly more expensive than kettles with an open heater.

An open heater is called a spiral. Less popular model, but a little cheaper. This kettle is more difficult to clean, because the spiral is of complex shape and covers the whole bottom. Before you turn on the kettle, you must always check the water level, if it is below the spiral, you need to top up the water.

What else to pay attention to?

If you have decided on the main characteristics - the type of heating element and the material from which your kettle is to be made, pay attention to some details:

  1. Power of an electric kettle. Very rarely, the buyer decides to choose an electric kettle by such a criterion as power. Virtually all kettles have a capacity of 2-2.5 kW. At the same time, the boiling rate for a 2 L teapot is not very different.
  2. Volume of the kettle. Here everything is simple: the criterion of choice depends only on the number of people you are counting on. A small electric kettle with a capacity of not more than 1.5 liters is quite suitable for a family of 2 people. For a large family, 1.8-2 liters is enough.
  3. Design. An electric kettle with backlighting according to the main characteristics may not be completely different from other models, but often these models are more popular. Backlighting can be completely different: there are models that illuminate the inside of the teapot, some change color or light the water level.
  4. Filters. At first glance, it may seem that this is a completely unnecessary addition. But if the water in your house is not very clean, the filter will at least not allow scum to get into your cup of tea. If you are an advocate of an environmentally friendly way of life, teapots with two filters are ideal for you. But the price of such a teapot is very high.
  5. Before choosing an electric kettle, carefully analyze for what purpose you buy it, how many people it is designed for and how often you plan to use it.
