Interior doors of PVC

Plastic today is gaining increasing popularity, taking root in our homes and in all areas of our lives. Even interior doors are made of PVC, and they do not lose it either in appearance or in their basic functions.

Pros and cons of PVC doors

The plastic interior doors have many advantages. For example, they are not much different from the doors made of natural materials, while they are lighter, so they put far less pressure on the hinges and the box.

Among other advantages of interior PVC doors, they have good heat and sound insulation due to their honeycomb structure. The presence of air in the combs does not allow noise to spread, so does the cold and heat.

Despite the apparent weakness of the plastic, the doors from PVC are quite durable. The material of manufacture is actually very strong, and the film, which is covered with the surface of the doors, does not burn out in the sun and provides additional mechanical strength.

Plastic doors are fireproof, they do not burn, respectively - do not contribute to the spread of fire. They are also immune to moisture, so they are just perfect for bathrooms.

Interior PVC doors are simple in installation and subsequent care. They only need wet wiping. Plastic doors do not need repairs to update the appearance. At the same time there is a huge assortment of textures and colors. And an important advantage is their price accessibility.

Now we turn to the minuses of the plastic doors. They, in comparison with other doors, do not have sufficient elasticity to great physical exertion.

Their ideal tightness, which on the one hand is an advantage, on the other hand is an undesirable characteristic, because behind a tightly closed door, in the absence of natural ventilation, a stuffy and unhealthy climate is formed.

Further - not all manufacturers worry about the welfare of customers and make doors made of plastic with harmful impurities. They have the property of evaporating, getting into our environment. Not to mention the cases of fire, when the plastic melts and simply poisons its owners.

And their main drawback is that, no matter how beautiful the design and how true the attempts to imitate wood are, plastic remains only plastic - soulless and cold. Even touching the door leaf will not give you the warmth of natural wood.

Types of plastic interior doors

PVC coating on anything, including on the door - this is a plastic film covering of any color, which makes the product damp and wear-resistant. PVC film is a durable material, resistant to temperature changes, so that such doors are suitable for residents of places with a variable climate.

Under the strong and durable plastic is the MDF-plate. This door is quite solid, because MDF is not inferior in strength to natural wood. Thus, interior doors with PVC-coating are an excellent option.

Laminated interior doors of PVC - this is a slightly different picture. Lamination is a film coating on a paper-based top profile of PVC and is designed to simulate a natural coating. Especially it turns out, if the lamination is produced by a film impregnated with acrylic or melamine resin. That's only this option is not particularly eco-friendly.

Another option is lamination with a fiberglass film or dichromate. Imitating these films can not only wood, but also metal, cork, stone and other natural materials. Laminated surfaces are well cleaned, you can even use chemicals, without worrying that the finish will suffer.
