Materials for the manufacture of furniture

Each owner should know what modern closets or kitchens are made of. What material for furniture will be better? The properties of each substance are very different, as is the price. I want to buy a quality product that will last a long time. Separately it is necessary to list the materials that manufacturers use for the manufacture of facades, walls, various boxes. After all, these elements are subjected to the greatest load and are responsible for the strength of the entire structure.

The main types of materials for furniture:

  1. Particleboard (particleboard) . They make them from sawdust and shavings impregnated with resins. It has a low price, light and durable, which made this material for kitchen and cabinet furniture very popular. Lack of particleboard - when it is used, formaldehyde resins are very harmful to health. Therefore, slabs of class E2 are forbidden to use for making children's furniture. Products of the E1 class are considered safer for users, all harmful components are minimized.
  2. Laminated chipboard . These are the same plates, but lined with a special coating, imitating different types of wood. This material is more resistant to external influences, temperature changes and mechanical damage. Disadvantages - the presence of the same formaldehyde harmful pitches and the lack of the possibility of fine processing.
  3. Fibreboard, which is commonly referred to as a fiberboard. It is most often used for the production of the rear walls, the bottom of the boxes, than as the material for the furniture facades. It is made by hot pressing of cellulose, water and polymers with various additives. The front side of these slabs is faced with a different decorative coating. This material is quite specific and afraid of water, although it has a low price and has good thermal insulation.
  4. Material for furniture MDF . It is a kind of fiberboard, but it has better qualities. Another advantage of MDF - in its production, the use of harmful components was reduced several times, increasing environmental performance. Other advantages - an opportunity for fine processing, the products are obtained not worse than from natural wood.
  5. Plywood . Get it by gluing several sheets of veneer. This is a fairly clean and harmless material, easy to handle, having a small cost. But the properties of plywood do not allow it to apply everywhere.
  6. Plastic . The thing is, how good is it. Cheap material - quickly turns yellow and scratches, and good, but more expensive - is not inferior in strength and appearance to MDF or wood. The furniture made of acrylic is now in great demand - an excellent polymer material with great strength, resistant to high temperatures and sunlight.
  7. The tree . It is impossible not to mention this most environmentally friendly material, which has long been used by people to produce furniture. But production from a natural massif is expensive and not everyone can afford it. In addition, the tree requires special care, it is afraid of a temperature drop and moisture.

In addition, there are still edge materials for furniture, protecting the edge of the plate from harmful effects and mechanical damage, performing a decorative function. There are also artificial, synthetic and natural fabrics - these are materials that are used for upholstery upholstery. Every year, invented and introduced into production new substances, all the more safe and not inferior to natural products. In each individual case it is worthwhile to think carefully whether it is worth choosing a tree or buying a kitchen from acrylic, and a cabinet made from MDF, which, moreover, will look no less spectacular.
