First aid for falling from height

If the victim fell from a short distance, he usually remains conscious. It is necessary to quickly assess the degree of damage:

  1. Inspect a person for abrasions, injuries and bruises.
  2. Ask them to move their toes and hands, all limbs, to make sure the integrity of the spinal column and bones.
  3. To ask, does the victim have a headache, does he not feel drowsiness, nausea, dizziness (symptoms of brain concussion).

In those cases when the incident cost "little blood", it is enough to help a person get home, wash abrasions, apply cold compresses to bruises.

If anxiety symptoms are found, there are suspicions of having spinal or bone fractures, concussion, it is important to immediately call an ambulance. Before the arrival of physicians, you need to immobilize the victim.

A fall from a high altitude requires such first aid measures:

  1. Immediately call the hospital and call specialists, specifying the state of the person.
  2. Without turning over the victim and not moving him, check the pulse - attach the index and middle finger to the cervical artery.
  3. If the heart beats and falls from a height breathes, you do not need to do anything else. The only exceptions are situations where there is intense bleeding . In such cases, it should be temporarily stopped with a tight bandage or tourniquet, trying not to move the limbs and the human body.
  4. When there is no pulse, urgent cardiopulmonary resuscitation is required - closed cardiac massage (30 pressures, depth - 5-6 cm) and artificial ventilation (2 mouth-to-mouth).
