Virtually every wound can be accompanied by bleeding. Cuts, strokes or pricks - all this damages the walls of the vessels, from which the blood flows. It is especially important to know how to quickly stop bleeding, in case of emergency it can save a person's life.
Types of bleeding
If blood flows from the wound or other external openings of the body, bleeding is called open. If the blood accumulates in the body cavity, the bleeding is called internal. There are the following types of external bleeding:
- Capillary. This type of bleeding occurs with superficial wounds and the blood thus flows by drop.
- Venous. Occurs when the wound is deeper (cut or chopped). With such wounds, there is a profuse bleeding of dark color.
- Arterial. It causes deep chopped or chopped wounds. The blood at this bright scarlet color, it does not just flow, it hits with a stream.
- Mixed. Blood in this case flows simultaneously from the artery and vein.
Stop venous bleeding is best with a pressure bandage. Apply a clean bandage or clean handkerchief to the wound. Due to the fact that the bandage squeezes the ends of the damaged vessels, the bleeding stops. If the situation is urgent and there is nothing like gauze or handkerchief at hand, press the wound with your hand.
To stop capillary bleeding, wet the gauze with hydrogen peroxide and attach it to the wound. Top layer of cotton wool and bandage everything. Never apply cotton wool or other fabric with a fleecy texture on the wound. In villi there can be bacteria, which will provoke infection.
The most important thing is to stop violent arterial bleeding in time, as the victim may bleed. You can stop it by applying a pressure bandage or tourniquet. The tourniquet should be placed above the wound site. To make the harness, you can use anything: a belt, a scarf, a tie or a handkerchief.
Any heavy bleeding should be stopped according to the following pattern:
- Put the victim on the floor and lift the wounded part of the body;
- If there are foreign bodies in the wound, they need to be removed. It is not necessary to remove deeply penetrated objects, this can increase bleeding;
- Place a tissue pad on the wound and squeeze it hard;
- continue to squeeze the wound, while applying a bandage.
Drugs that stop bleeding
There are two types of hemostatic drugs: one should be administered orally within the framework of general therapy, others are local. If the first type is to be prescribed by the doctor for each specific case, the drugs stopping bleeding are topical for any external bleeding.
