Buddhist temple complex of Muara Jambi (Muaro Jambi Temple Compounds) is located in the same district, the province of Jambi, Sumatra , Indonesia. According to the researchers, it was founded around the XI-XIII century. The Kingdom of Melaya, as evidenced by the finds found during excavations. Moreover, scholars suggest that Muara Jambi is in fact part of the capital of the ancient kingdom. By the way, for the first time the ruins of the temple were discovered by Dutch archaeologists only in the XIX century, and since then this place is designated as a national monument, and in 2009 the complex received the status of a UNESCO object.

Muara Jambi is one of the largest and best preserved temple complexes of Southeast Asia. It covers an area of ​​12 square meters. km, with about 7.5 km running along the Batang-Hari river.
