Japan is one of the most modern and developed Asian countries. This state attracts millions of tourists from all over the world every year not only with its unique colorful culture, but also with a lot of unusual sights and excellent museums . Today we suggest you to go on an exciting journey through one of the most visited places of the Land of the Rising Sun - the Sake Museum in Kyoto.
Interesting Facts
The museum was founded in 1982 on the site of an old brewery, built in the early XX century. Gekkeikan Ltd., one of Japan's leading companies for the production of aromatic alcoholic beverages from rice-sake, took an active part in its creation. The main purpose of the opening of the museum was to familiarize all visitors with the history of this drink and the process of its production. Today this place is very popular with locals and especially visiting tourists, and the annual number of guests reaches 100 000 people.
What to see?
The sake museum is a whole complex consisting of several premises. Pay special attention to the following:
- Brewery. Right at the entrance to the Sake Museum visitors will find a unique exposition telling about the structure of the former brewery and its history. Until 1890, this plant was not widely known, so sales were carried out mainly at the local level. Pay special attention to the main exhibit of the hall - the old payment meter.
- Yard. Between the museum and the brewery is a large courtyard, where today you can see the huge wooden containers used to dry the drink in the sun. In the age of modern technology, the barrels are no longer used for their intended purpose, but only serve as an interesting exhibit.
- Historical Hall. One of the most exciting collections is represented in the gallery, where the old illustrations, tools and equipment were exhibited, which was used in 1900-1960. In 1985, all these exhibits received the status of "material cultural values of Kyoto ", and about 400 of them today are part of the permanent exhibition of the museum.
- Tasting room. This is the last and favorite by many tourists the tour . After visiting the gallery and getting acquainted with the process of making sake, everyone can try several different varieties of this drink, compare the taste and buy delicious souvenirs .
