The city of Prijedor in Bosnia and Herzegovina will please, though not numerous, but attractive sights. Kozara National Park

In the municipality of Prijedor there is an interesting natural attraction - the Kozar National Park, whose area exceeds 3.5 thousand hectares. The park was formed in 1987, in order to ensure the full protection of cultural and historical heritage.

The park is located around the eponymous mountain. The central part is the plateau of Markowitz. Here is a war museum, which contains weapons, artillery installations and other evidence of battles that took place in the mountains during the Second World War. After all, it was here in 1942 that the famous bloody battle for Kozar was held.

Klisin Monastery

15 kilometers from the town of Prijedor, in a small village called Nishtavtsi, there is the Klisina Monastery, which is under the wing of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

The date of the foundation of the monastery has not yet been established, but it is known that it was laid in honor of the Meeting of the Lord. So, back in 1463 he suffered from the Turkish troops, which destroyed the buildings and dispersed the monks.

However, later a wooden church was erected here. Which, however, has not survived to this day. It was burnt by the Ustashi in 1941. Residents of local villages managed to save the bell - they flooded it in the river, and later pulled out.

The church was rebuilt in 1993, although the beginning of the Bosnian war hindered the revival of the monastery. And only in 1998 it was again announced about its restoration.

You can get to Prijedor only by land transport - by train, bus or car from the airports in the nearest major cities. For example, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo , in the capital of Croatia Zagreb. Let's note only that fact, that direct regular flights connecting Moscow and Bosnia and Herzegovina, are not present.
