Roof of the attic

People who have a private house eventually try to expand the living space and in this the attic floor helps them. It can be completed in an existing project or created when planning a future building. The function of the external walls in the attic is made by an inclined frame roof and a vertical wall constructed of the same material as the main walls in the house. According to sanitary norms, the height of the roof of the attic should be 2.5 meters from the floor level, but often for the economy builders reduce the height to 1.5 meters.

Roof Forms

When building an attic, you can choose the following types of roofs:

  1. One-run. Sloping roof, which is mounted on bearing walls. It is considered the most uneconomical, because it greatly "cuts" the space due to the angular slope.
  2. Gable roof with an attic. It consists of two ramps directed in different directions, making its surface rigid and reliable. Windows in such a roof can be installed both on the side and in the front wall.
  3. Four-bed. The technology of its construction is much more complicated than in the above variants, but it has a number of advantages. Due to the lack of fronts, the roof is able to withstand any wind loads, so houses with such a structure are often found in regions where hurricanes are common. In addition, the hip roof makes the building more "squat", which allows you to organically fit the house into the existing one-storey building.
  4. Multi-plated forms. Complex forms of roofs that require careful planning and the work of professionals. Despite the original appearance of such roofs there is one big drawback - they accumulate water, which heavily loads the roof. But under such roof it is possible to equip a room of the non-standard form which will surprise visitors of the house.
