Saint Laurent

A man who at 21 could become the head of the whole company, the fashion king - Yves Sen Laurent, made a real revolution in the fashion industry. He turned all the shows of that time about women's clothes and became the first who made leather jackets, tuxedos and high boots-boots, popular elements of the women's wardrobe.

Yves Saint Laurent - biography

The history of the great couturier began in Algiers in 1936. He had a prosperous and well-off family. Yves (at the suggestion of his father) was to become a lawyer, but the mother helped the young man choose a profession that was closer to him in spirit. She organized a meeting with the editor-in-chief of Bor magazine, Michel de Brunoff.

Seeing the sketches of the young Saint Laurent, Brunoff immediately saw in him the talent of the fashion designer and played a decisive role in his future destiny. It was he who recommended the young man to help himself to Christian Dior.

Fashion House Yves Saint Laurent

But just three years after the start of the collaboration of Yves Saint Laurent with the fashion house, Christian Dior passed away, and Yves, still quite young and inexperienced, rose to the helm of the fashionable empire. In the new status, he released his debut collection. In it, he first included unusual in its form dresses with a trapezoidal silhouette, striking fashion critics and the entire world public with this unexpected decision - for such courage and ingenuity, the young designer was awarded the prestigious Neiman Marcus Oscar.

However, shortly thereafter, he was drafted into the army, whence after three weeks of his stay he was commissioned with the diagnosis of a "nervous breakdown". Eve continued treatment in a psychiatric clinic, which was the reason for his immediate dismissal from the House of Dior.

It is difficult to overestimate the fact that with the departure of a talented fashion designer, fashion could lose. But Yves Saint Laurent did not even think of leaving his favorite pastime for a long time. Already in a short time, with the help of his close friend Pierre Berge, he founded his own brand - YSL. The logo of the same new brand Yves Saint Laurent was not chosen by chance - they were the initial letters of the name of the greatest fashion designer. The new brand has excited critics and customers around the world with their collections that are not similar to those created ever.

So Yves Saint Laurent boldly introduced the men's pantsuit into the women's wardrobe, and his female version of the fancy dress Le Smoking immediately won the hearts of the fans around the world.

Casual clothes, which were sold in open-minded young boys boutiques, were in no way inferior in elegance to the evening. The style of Yves Saint Laurent was often called "sensual elegance". In full measure, the fashion designer showed him in the African clothing line for the spring-summer show and a collection based on Russian peasant images. They entered fashion history as one of the best shows in his creative work. Significantly, Yves was the first to invite black mannequins to participate in the shows of his collections.

It is believed that it was Yves Saint Laurent that introduced jackets, transparent blouses and overalls into fashion. He also liked to use transparent materials for his collections, for which he was repeatedly criticized. However, at the same time, every new of his outfits became yet another confirmation that the designer is able to mix talent high fashion and everyday things.

Since January 2002, Yves Saint Laurent has officially retired, but his brand continues to thrive and is very popular. To date, the YSL Fashion House has more than 60 major boutiques around the world - in Paris, London, Milan, Hong Kong and many other cities.

Each collection of Yves Saint Laurent, once considered strange and unusual, today became the personification of classics. Having created his own brand, the talented fashion designer asked a completely new direction in fashion and forever changed the perception of women's clothing.
