One of the most important days at the end of Lent for Christians is the Holy Saturday, following Good Friday. The last day before the Bright Sunday is considered very difficult emotionally, because this is the waiting period that is necessary to prepare for a new miraculous event - the indulgence of the blessed fire, which signifies the resurrection of Christ. Signs and customs associated with Holy Saturday
By tradition, in the evening, services are held in the temples that precede large Easter services. Therefore, in Russia it was accepted by the whole family to go to the temple for the night and to meet the dawn of the Great Sunday in prayer. It was believed that then the whole next year in the family will be peace, harmony and prosperity.
But before that the housewives had many worries, because it was necessary to properly prepare for the holiday. On Easter Saturday they cooked and painted eggs, made cakes, collected early meals for the Sunday ritual of rationing, went to the temples to "shine" the food.
