Signs of Stroke

Stroke is an acute disorder of the circulation, the symptoms of which last more than a day. The consequences of this are damage to the brain areas due to lack of oxygen, blockage or rupture of blood vessels. At the moment, strokes are second only to coronary heart disease in the list of causes of death from diseases of the circulatory system.

The main signs of a stroke

Symptoms of stroke are divided into three groups - vegetative, cerebral and focal.

Vegetative signs include strong palpitation, dry mouth, fever, accompanied by increased sweating. But it is impossible to diagnose only on the basis of these signs. They can serve only as a complement to the clinical picture.

To general cerebral symptoms include drowsiness or excitement, short-term loss of consciousness, confusion, a sense of time and spatial coordination, a decrease in memory and concentration. On the approach of a stroke may indicate an acute headache, which is accompanied by nausea and vomiting, tinnitus, dizziness.

Focal symptoms give the most clear picture of the disease, but usually do not appear at an early stage, but already at the time of an attack, and depend on what part of the brain is affected.

When lesions of the frontal lobes, unilateral motor disturbances are observed. If the right share has suffered, then problems arise on the left side of the body and vice versa.

In the parietal lobe of the brain there are centers responsible for general sensitivity, as well as a peculiar "scheme" of the body. The defeat of this area of the brain is accompanied by various unpleasant sensations - from crawling and tingling in different parts of the body to the complete loss of pain, temperature and other types of sensations, up to complete numbness. In addition, the defeat of the parietal lobe of the brain can lead to a disruption in the perception of the size and location of body parts - for example, a person ceases to recognize his own hands and feet, or he thinks that an extra limb has appeared.

If the speech center is damaged, the patient is either unable to speak at all, or can hardly say harsh phrases.

In the area of the central gyri there are areas responsible for movement and coordination, so when they are injured, dizziness occurs, the gait is broken, partial or complete paralysis of the limbs appears.

Signs of ischemic stroke

Ischemic stroke occurs due to a violation of blood flow to individual brain areas. For such a stroke is characterized by a gradual increase in symptoms. A few days before the attack, a person begins headaches, weakness, dizziness, blurred vision. Then to these symptoms periodic numbness in the arm or leg is added. Over time, limbs can completely cease to function. Consciousness does not lose the patient, but there may be clouding of reason and vomiting.

Signs of hemorrhagic stroke

Hemorrhagic stroke is an intracerebral hemorrhage, in which the walls of the vessels fail to press and tear. Unlike ischemic, this type of stroke is sudden. He is characterized by severe headaches, which can lead to loss of consciousness and often accompanied by cramps. Over time, a person comes to, but remains inhibited, sluggish, constantly experiencing a headache and nausea.

Microthritis and repeated strokes

A second stroke usually takes place in a much more severe form than the first, and many symptoms are much more pronounced. Most often it is the paralysis of some muscles or one side of the body completely, a sharp deterioration of vision or blindness to one eye, speech disturbance and coordination of movements.

As for micro-stroke, there is no such term in medical literature. In the common term, micro stroke is understood as a stroke, the symptoms of which were observed in the patient from a few seconds to one day.
