The main active component of the drug Kurantil - dipyridamole. The active substance has the following pharmacological effects on the body:
- widens the lumen of the coronary vessels;
- increases the speed of blood flow;

- stimulates the synthesis of interferon;
- inhibits the aggregation of platelets in the blood.
Pharmaceutical preparation Kurantil is available in the form of:
- tablets containing 25, 50, 75 or 100 mg of dipyridamole;
- dragees containing 25 and 75 mg of active ingredient;
- 0.5% solution in ampoules.
Indications and contraindications to the use of the drug Curantil
Indications for the use of the pharmaceutical drug Curantil according to the instructions are:
- violation of cerebral circulation according to the type of ischemia;
- encephalopathy;
- severe hypertension;
- obliterating endarteritis ;
- pre-infarction and post-infarction states;
- atherosclerosis of the heart vessels;
- prevention of thrombosis and thromboembolism, including after prosthetic heart valves;
- any violations of blood microcirculation;
- increase immunity in epidemics of influenza and ARVI.
Experts also consider the placental insufficiency during pregnancy as an indication for the use of the drug Curantil. If the threat from the condition exceeds the risk of taking the medicine, it is assigned to the future mother.
Contraindications to the use of the drug Kurantil are acute diseases associated with a violation of blood microcirculation, unstable and decompensated conditions. The drug is not prescribed for the following diseases:
- acute myocardial or brain infarction;
- acute angina;
- hypotension, syncope;
- marked renal and hepatic insufficiency;
- heart failure in the stage of decompensation;
- vegetovascular dystonia;
- obstruction of the bronchopulmonary system;
- tendency to bleeding, including in the presence of peptic ulcer;
- cardiac arrhythmias;
- hypersensitivity to drug components.
It is undesirable to use Curantil in the treatment of children under 12 years of age.
Method of application of the drug Curantil
Orally, it is recommended to take Churantil before meals or 2 hours after eating. Tablets (dragees) should be washed down with a sufficient amount of water or milk (the latter reduces diarrheal phenomena). Doctors advise not to use tea and coffee in therapy, since these drinks weaken the action of dipyridamole. It is also worth noting that Curantil enhances the effect of antihypertensive drugs and drugs that dilute blood.
The dose of the drug depends on the degree of development of the disease and the individual characteristics of the organism. Courantil in a dosage of 75 mg contains more active substance. Indications for the use of the drug Curantil 75, as a rule, are heart failure and cerebral circulation disorders. With diseases of this kind, the frequency of medication is 3-6 times a day. As an antiaggregant agent, Curantil 75 is prescribed in a dosage of 3-9 tablets per day.
For the prevention of viral diseases, Kurantil is often used at a dosage of 25. This drug is recommended during epidemics to drink twice a day for 2 tablets per reception.
