Almost in every front garden you can meet a queen of flowers - a rose. But to grow this beautiful flower you should know that the rose has high requirements for obtaining nutrients. Therefore, it is necessary to bring them under the bushes of roses annually, even in the case of good fertilizer when planting. Use for this, alternating in a year, organic (manure or compost) and mineral fertilizers. Top dressing of roses is root and foliar (spraying of leaves).
Before considering what exactly and when you can feed roses, you should familiarize yourself with the basic rules of fertilizing.
How to properly feed roses?
A few rules:
- plants do not need fertilizing in the first year of life;
- Before and after top dressing the soil should be well watered;
- during the flowering of roses no fertilizing is carried out;
- foliar top dressing of roses in the summer should be done in the evening so that the leaves do not get burned;
- foliar dressing is carried out only with a freshly prepared solution;
- it is better to "underfeed" the plant than to overfeed, soil the soil;
- do not change fertilizer often.
Sometimes the question arises: is it possible to feed roses with a mullein? Yes, it is even necessary, since well-bred cow dung is considered to be the most valuable and useful organic fertilizer.
Root top dressing of roses in stages:
For fertilizing, you can use both modern fertilizers and cheaper folk recipes. All the below options for feeding roses are bred in 10 liters of water.
The first top dressing should be carried out in the spring, when bud buds are blossoming:
- urea (1 tablespoon) and Agricola Rose (1 tablespoon), pour 3 liters of solution on one bush; and a little later they make a mixture of "Agricola Rosa", fertilizer "Flower" and nitrofoski taken in 1 tbsp. spoon with the same consumption under the bush;
- mushroom mullein (1l) and urea (1 tablespoon), 4 - 5 liters of solution under the bush.
The second top dressing - with the appearance of flower buds (budding period):
- sulphate of potassium with fertilizers "Agricola for flowering plants" and "Ideal" taken for 1 tbsp. spoon, consumption of a solution of 4-5 liters under the bush;
- superphosphate (1 tablespoon) and potassium sulfate (1 tablespoon), pour 3 liters of solution under one bush.
The third top dressing is in July (the beginning of flowering of roses):
- nitrophosphate (2 tablespoons), potassium sulfate (1 tablespoon) and Agricola Rose (1 tablespoon), 3-4 liters for one bush;
- liquid bird poultry (0.5 liters) and taken for 1 tbsp. spoonful of nitrophosphate and superphosphate, under the bush - 3 liters, and then after a sprinkle with one glass of wood ash .
The fourth top dressing - after the first flowering of roses in late August - early September:
- phosphorus-potassium mixture (2 tablespoons) and "Agricola Rosa" (1 tablespoon), pour 4-5 l solution under the bush.
- 2 tbsp. spoons of any complete complex fertilizer, under the bush - 5 liters of solution.
Foliar top dressing of roses
Nutrients necessary for the life of roses, they can receive and through the leaves, for this they use foliar feeding in the form of spraying the leaves of bushes. This is especially useful for shrubs that have pale small leaves and weak stems, for very young or old plants. It is good to spend foliar dressing every 10 days, taking a break during the flowering of roses.
There are several recipes, than you can feed roses in spring, before flowering or in summer, after flowering:
- Take one packet of topping "Bud" and dissolve in water (10 liters). Spray should be at a rate of 3 liters per 15 m2.
- Ash solution (between the main top dressings): pour two cups of ash with hot water, boil for 10-15 minutes, insist and strain. The resulting concentrate is diluted in 10 liters of water and can be sprayed.
- A solution of trace elements (boric acid, manganese sulfate, copper or iron sulfate) with mineral fertilizer or with slurry no more than twice a year.
If you do not make fertilizers on time, then roses will stop growing, so for good growth and abundant flowering large flowers must provide rose bushes with all the necessary nutrients.
