How to make a sofa bed with your own hands?
- We prepare materials: pine beam (40 × 40), chipboard, fiberboard, legs and loops (transformation mechanism), plywood 4 mm, cloth, foam rubber along the length of the product (40 mm) 3 sheets, sintepon, screws.
- We collect the drawer of the sofa.
- To do this, from the beam we make guides with cuts on both sides, they reduce the part by 15 mm.
- We grind the corners of the legs.
- Retreating 50 mm from the edge of the sidewall, we fasten the guide and the legs to each other with screws. We do two pieces.
- On a flat surface, we join the longitudinal parts with the sidewalls. In the center of the box we set the bar.
- We install the bottom of plywood.
- We turn the box and set the bars along the center and under the loop.
We are assembling the sofa bed frame. - We use 4 longitudinal bars and 14 transverse. The four extreme cross bars are reinforced with choppers.
- We assemble the frame, fastening the corners with one screwdriver.
- We lay the plywood on the frame, level the corners and fasten it to the frame. We supplement the design with cross bars, which in the frame of the backrest should be at the level of the legs, in contrast to the frame of the seat (from the edge of 195mm). The joints of the plywood are also reinforced with a bar.
- Sew the fiberboard backrest frame.
Make the legs for a sofa bed, their height is equal to a box with legs. - We grind the edges of the parts and cover them with stain.
- With the help of a strip of cardboard, fabric and sintepon, we tighten the legs, fixing the material with the stapler.
- The ends of the legs are closed with felt circles.
We gather the seat. On the frame for the legs we install support bars. We install a king with a height of at least 150 mm, making cuts at the level of bars. We fix the legs end-to-end, reinforcing the connection with the bolt and washer. We close the sidewalls with figured details from plywood. On the length of the seat we attach strips of fiberboard. We make up the upholstery of the box with a cloth, bending the edges of the material, use the strips of cardboard. We tighten the seat. - Cut foam rubber with a knife and ruler, it should be fairly tight. The seat cushion is made of two-layer or three-layer, gluing the sheets with special glue.
- We paste a thin foam rubber on the barrel, creating a ledge of a strip of foam rubber, and we close the sidewalls.
- Tighten the seat with a cloth. We sew the cover and fix it.
- We pull the fabric through the previously prepared holes, and then fasten the weights.
We tighten the back. - We paste the foam on the plywood back. On the perimeter glued it with strips of foam rubber.
- On the back of the back we attach batting.
- We tighten the back with a cloth, pulling the fabric through the holes.
We collect the sofa. - In the middle of the seat and around the edges we fasten the hinges.
- We check the smoothness of the joints, turn the backrest on the seat, level and fasten the hinges, connecting the halves of the bed sofa.
A self-made sofa bed with its own hands is ready.
