Suprastin is allowed to be used even by children up to a year, but it should be noted that for the youngest patients there is no suitable form of this medication yet and all the indicated dosages in the instruction are intended for adults. At what age can children be given suprastin?
Suprastin can be given to a child from the age of four weeks. Some allergic reactions and certain types of dermatitis can be congenital, for example, atopic dermatitis is usually manifested when the baby is not yet six months old, and suprastin allows, quite effectively, to cope with this problem. They can also prescribe suprastin before and after preventive vaccinations, especially if they can cause an allergic reaction. How to give suprastin to children?

- For children under one year, doctors appoint one-quarter of the tablet. Before taking the pill, it is necessary to crush it into powder and mix it with baby food.
- For children from one to six years, suprastin is also given in the form of a powder, but only in an increased dosage (one-third of the tablet).
- For children from six to fourteen years old, you can give half the pill once a day.

Contraindication to the use of this antiallergic agent is the presence of a child with bronchial asthma or stomach ulcers, since suprastin causes irritation of the stomach mucosa. If children have kidney or liver disease, the drug should be used with great care and strictly in accordance with the recommendations of doctors.
If there is such an opportunity, and there is no urgent need to take such a strong drug as suprastin, it is better to replace it with a softer anti-allergic agent.
