How does the drug Pirantel?

The active substance of this drug is pamoate, which has a wide spectrum of action and affects various types of helminths (ascarids, pinworms).

As is known, according to the peculiarities of vital activity of most worms, in order that they constantly remain in the body, their continuous movement is necessary. This drug by suppressing neuromuscular conduction of parasites, leads to their immobilization. Such individuals are then pushed outward due to bowel contraction, and leave the body for good.

Even before the children begin to drink Pirantel, the mother should become aware of possible side effects. These are observed quite rarely, and most often concern the disruption of the digestive system of the child. In this case, the following can be observed:

• nausea;
• vomiting;
• abdominal pain;
• diarrhea.

Occasionally, children complain of a headache, dizziness. In this case, parents note the fact that the child has become less mobile, drowsy, or on the contrary, suffers from insomnia.

With the development of allergic reactions, skin rashes may appear, as well as an increase in body temperature.

In addition, it is necessary to take into account the fact that during the treatment of helminthiases, all households must comply with the strict hygiene regime. It is best when all family members are treated simultaneously.
