When is Ibufen used?
The drug is intended for complex therapy in children, in such cases as:
- acute respiratory infections, viral infections;
- influenza of any type;
- pharyngitis;
- angina.
In addition, the suspension of Ibufen can be used for children with an earache, toothache, headache in children, muscle pain, joints, and injuries of the musculoskeletal system.
How and in what doses is Ibufen prescribed?
The dosage of syrup Ibufen is calculated for children, based on their body weight and age. Most often, only 5-10 mg / kg of body weight of the baby is prescribed. At the same time, the frequency of reception is 3-4 times a day, with an interval between receptions of at least 4 hours. The maximum daily dose of the drug should not exceed 20-30 mg / kg.
Breast children, up to 6-9 months (5-7.5 kg), are prescribed 3 times a day for 2.5 ml (5 mg) at a time. To children from 6 months to 1 year, the daily dose is increased to 200 mg per day.
The drug can be used for infants, starting with 3 months of life. However, it is worth to consult with a doctor about this.
For children older than 1 year, the drug is usually given in the following dosages:
- 1-3 years - 300 mg / day;
- 4-6 years - 450 mg / day;
- 7-9 years - 600 mg / day;
- 10-12 years - 900 mg / day.
What is the duration of the drug?
Ibupen can be used for 3 days as an antipyretic. If after this time the temperature does not decrease, you should consult a doctor.
In cases where the drug is used as an anesthetic, the duration of its use should not exceed 5 days.
What are the medicinal forms of Ibufen?
Ibupen for children is available in the form of a suspension, but not in tablets and candles. In cases where the child is already large enough, it is permissible to use drugs in the form of tablets, which include ibuprofen (the active substance of Ibuphen).
Many mothers remain at a loss, choosing which is best used for children - Nurofen or Ibufen. If you compare these two drugs, the first has a more pronounced analgesic effect, and worse cope with a decrease in body temperature.
