The place where the castle of Alcazar is located in Ukraine is located very close to the city of Mukachevo, because it is often called the Mukachevo castle. At one time the fortress was a prison for political and ordinary criminals. At a time when Transcarpathia was part of Czechoslovakia, the castle served as a military unit. In the course of the history there was even a vocational school in the walls of the fortress.
Currently, Palanok Castle in Ukraine, similar to the Alcazar, remains a historical museum of the city, it contains many entertaining expositions, art galleries and ancient icons.
