When to dig out the golden root?

Nothing attracts a person so much as the dream of a long, and most importantly, healthy life. And although the pharmaceutical industry can offer a lot of medicines for every taste and purse, folk remedies do not come out of use. Deserved popularity is used tinctures from rhodiola rosea , also called golden root. On the useful properties of the golden root is fully correlated with ginseng, but unlike the latter, it can be grown on your own garden. The most important thing in this case is to be able to guess the time when you dig out the golden root for the tincture.

Time of harvesting the golden root

To prepare medicinal tinctures, only adult specimens of pink rhodiola, which are not less than 3 years old, are suitable. Time to harvest the healing root comes in August, and the permissive signal to this is the death of the aerial part of the plant. In this case, it is not at all necessary to extract the entire plant from the ground - it is perfectly permissible to cut off only a part of the root. To do this, the ground around the rhizome is gently raked, and then cut out its part (not more than one third) with a sharp knife.

Place the cut in order to avoid decay immediately sprinkled with wood ash or charcoal, and the formed pit is filled with humus or leafy earth. The next time, this procedure can be performed no earlier than three to four years, giving the root system of the plant time to recover. The collected rhodioles are carefully cleaned from the ground and sand, washed under running water and cut into small pieces (5-6 cm in length), while simultaneously sorting out all diseased and damaged areas.

After this, the blanks are sent to dry. Dry golden root should be away from direct sunlight, in a warm and well-ventilated room.
