Where did the Greek gods live?

The Greeks endowed their numerous deities with a variety of features, not alien to human beings. And if the Greek gods were so similar to people, then the question where they lived, begs one answer - among the population of this sunny country. And partly this is correct.

Gods of Olympus of Ancient Greece

According to the surviving myths, the most important gods of Ancient Greece lived on Mount Olympus, towering above the sea level for almost 3 kilometers. The Greek gods considered the Greek gods Zeus and Hera, their sons - Hephaestus and Ares, as well as Athena, Artemis, Apollo, Aphrodite, Demeter, Hestia, Hermes and Dionysus. Nearby also lived the helpers of the gods - Iris, Hebe and Themis. These gods and goddesses watched people from a great height and very often interfered in the lives of ordinary mortals.

The Olympic gods were always young because of the ambrosia, which the pigeons brought to them from the garden of the Hesperides. After living hundreds of years, they constantly sought to find new entertainment. The result of these searches is interference in the lives and destinies of people, numerous amorous adventures and a large number of illegitimate children. There were also complex relationships between the gods themselves: they were friends, quarreled, built intrigues and reconciled each other.

Mount Olympus - one of the most picturesque places in Greece. Luxurious forests with coniferous and deciduous trees, thickets of rich ethereal oils of erica and myrtle, numerous animals and birds - all this pleased the Olympic gods and granted them immortality. And the death of the gods of ancient Greece caused a rude interference in nature and their people's lives.

Where did the rest of the gods of ancient Greece live?

Not all the significant gods of ancient Greece lived on Olympus. Home to Poseidon was the ocean, at the bottom of which was built a beautiful palace, and the ruler of the afterlife, Hades lived in his underground kingdom. And, despite the fact that some myths "prescribe" these brothers Zeus on Olympus, it is still more logical to assume that they lived in the elements that were ruled.
