A new portrait of Queen Elizabeth II for the anniversary of cooperation with the Red Cross

On October 14, Queen Elizabeth II presented her next portrait. The event was held in Windsor Castle, to which only the closest were invited. This picture was the first, which is timed to the 60-year patronage of the Queen of Great Britain over the Red Cross, an organization that helps people in need who are in emergency situations.

Portrait liked the queen

When the question was asked before the royal court, who to call as the author of the portrait, many decided that Henry Ward would write it perfectly. He has been working with the Red Cross for a long time and knows very well the work of this organization. As the pictures from the event show, Her Majesty's portrait was very pleased. In addition to Elizabeth II, the painting depicts the iconic things of the close cooperation of the Red Cross and the Queen: the decorations of Her Majesty Alexandra, who was one of the founders of the British Red Cross, and the bust of Henri Dunant, the founder of this organization.

Henry Ward himself commented on his work:

"I am very glad that I was chosen to paint a portrait timed to such an important date. In my work, I tried to put together all the strings that connect the royal court and the Red Cross. In addition, before starting work, I studied the creations of royal portraitists - Sir Joshua Reynolds and Anthony van Dyke. "
