Aegean Islands

The islands of the Aegean Sea are divided into several large groups. We will talk about each of them in more detail.

Northern Islands

The first includes those islands that are located in the eastern water area. This includes the islands of Ikaria, Samos, Chios and Lesvos. They serve those giant fortresses that separate Eastern Greece from Asia Minor. If you compare the Aegean islands by the number of healing springs and beaches, then Icaria is the undisputed leader. Despite the flow of tourists, you can always find a secluded place.

Lesbos is an island in the Aegean Sea, which is very popular with tourists. Here they are attracted by beaches with golden sand, healing springs, pine forests, picturesque bays and olive groves. A huge number of architectural monuments remained in the territory of Samos. In addition, it is here that the famous Greek wine is produced for Holy Communion. Chios is preferred to go by those who like to combine beach holidays with sightseeing of ancient sights.

Cyclades and Dodecanese

These islands and archipelagos constitute the central group. The Cycladic structure includes the islands of Tinos, Syros, Dilos, Serifos, Naxos, Paros, Milos, Santorini and Euboea. Dodecanese is a group of islands, among which the largest are Rhodes, Kos, Patmos, Karpathos, Kalymnos, Leros, Nisyros. And some of the northern islands of the Aegean Sea belong to Turkey (Hecheada and Bozcaada). All the above listed islands of the Aegean Sea are called southern.
