The other day it became known that the wife of US President Melanie Trump will sue one of the Croatian schools, which provides services for learning foreign languages. The fact is that an educational institution called Americki Institut in Zagreb placed advertisement on the billboards, in which the first lady of the USA appears.
Scandalous billboard and school apologies
The network of outdoor advertising, which appeared in Zagreb, was a photo of Melania next to which was written the slogan of the following content:
"You too can go very far if you have a little English."
After it became known about the use of the image of the first lady of the United States in advertising, Mrs. Trump's lawyers sent a formidable letter to the management of the Americki Institut, and also began preparing the documents for trial. Immediately after this story was publicized, a representative of the language school spoke to the press, saying:
"We did not want to offend anyone, and the image of Mrs. Trump was used as an example, because she achieved a lot in life and largely thanks to the fact that she learned English. Everyone knows that Melania is from Yugoslavia and in our country this woman is very loved and respected. This image in the advertising campaign helps Croats who decided to emigrate to English-speaking countries, make the right decision and start learning the language in advance, before leaving. Thanks to the knowledge of the language, they are much quicker to achieve goals in a foreign country and this is very correct. With regard to Melania Trump, we offer our deepest apologies, and the posters with her image will be dismantled within 24 hours from the moment we were presented with a complaint from her lawyers. "
After this, before the representatives of the media, the lawyer Natasha Pirc Musar, representing the interests of Mrs. Trump, decided to say a few words:
"As the representative of Americki Institut explained to me, the company that advertised the English language course is not familiar with the laws of Croatia. And in this country there is legislation that prohibits the publication of pictures of a person for commercial purposes, if he did not consent. That's why this case will be considered in court. "
