Christmas carols

Oh, so cheerful this time is winter. What kind of fun nature does not offer us, and snowballs, and skiing from high ice hills on sleighs, and skates with skis, and such lovely gatherings in the evenings with family and friends over a cup of hot tea with pies. And it is in winter that the whole baptized world celebrates the joyous and bright holiday of the Nativity of Christ. It is accompanied by solemn church service, abundant feast, noisy fun games and competitions, in which both old and young participate. But most importantly, without which this bright holiday can not do is Christmas carols. That's about them and will be discussed in our today's material.

Where did they come from?

According to logisticians and linguists, the word "carol" was derived from the Latin word "calendars", which means "first in the month or first in the year." And in fact, the Nativity of Christ is the very first holiday of the beginning of the year. But in fact the carols appeared long before the birth of Christ, and they were then not Christmas, but pagan praises to the forces of nature. The pagans praised the victory of good over evil, rejoicing that another difficult year had come to an end.

The birth of Christ marked a new era in the life of mankind, becoming an important event on the path to the salvation of the souls of people who believe in him. By the time and date in the year it roughly coincided with the pagan holiday of the winter solstice. And the ancient ritual singing gradually degenerated into Christmas carols songs. And the meaning of the word "carol" radically changed its meaning. Now Christmas carols began to be called a merry song, in which the birth of Christ is praised, and his parents are glorified, and in the end the wishes of health and happiness to the owners of the house and all household members sound. The Czechs, Serbs and Bulgarians "go around the wheel" means congratulating you on Christmas. The Slovaks "to coin" means to bless in the New Year. In the Trans-Danubian Slavs, a "gift" is a gift for Christmas and New Year.

Christmas carols texts

Nowadays, all the Christmas carols texts are divided into two types. The first are those Christmas carols, in which the holiday and all its characters are famous. For example, here is one of the most popular and beloved by many peoples.

Night is holy

The night is quiet, the night is holy,

People sleep, the distance is clear.

Only in the cave does the candle burn,

There the holy couple does not sleep,

The Child is dozing in the manger, the Child is dozing in the manger.

The night is quiet, the night is holy,

The height was climbing,

A bright Angel flies from heaven,

He brings news to the shepherds:

"To you Christ was born, to you Christ was born!"

The night is quiet, the night is holy,

In the sky a star is burning;

The shepherds are long on the road,

To Bethlehem they hasten to come:

There they will see Christ, they will see Christ there.

The night is quiet, the night is holy,

Happiness awaits all hearts.

God, let everyone come to Christ,

The joy of the light is found in Him.

Always be glorified, Christ, Christ forever be glorified!

God of gods and King of kings.

Not in the crown, not in porphyry

This Heavenly Priest.

Glory to the Born,

In the poor manger the enclosed.

He was not born in wards

And not in the cleaned houses.

There was no sign of gold,

Where He lay in swaddling clothes.

Glory to the Born,

In the poor manger the enclosed.

Incompatible It is contained

In the cramped manger, like a poor man.

Why was He born?

Why is it so bad?

Glory to the Born,

In the poor manger the enclosed.

In order to save us

From the Diabolic Networks

To exalt and glorify

We love our

Glory to the Born,

In the poor manger the enclosed.

We will always praise God

For such a day of celebration!

Let me congratulate you

Good people with me

And put on with rapture

In a garment of joy, the saint

Another type of Christmas carols contains a congratulation on the holiday and begging the hosts for a treat. For example, here such.

Good evening to you,

Affectionate master,

Rejoice, joy, earth,

The Son of God was born into the world.

For greetings, for a treat

Congratulations!

The carol came - open the gate!

Sir, gentlemen,

Mrs. wife,

Doors open

And you will give us!

A cake, a roll

Or anything else!
