Laminate is no longer a novelty in the market of goods for repair. But the cork laminate is something new. This floor covering is also called "floating" floors or cork parquet. The front side is decorated with decorative cork veneer, which is necessarily treated with a lacquer layer to increase strength. In addition, this coating makes the cork absolutely safe for allergy sufferers.
A cork floor made in the form of a laminate has many advantages, which make it a suitable option for an apartment. Here are the main ones:
- the prefabricated floor can be repeatedly, since it is easily disassembled and mounted again, which can not be said of the cork tile;
- floor can be used immediately after installation;
- provides high strength due to tight fit of the joints of the plates;
- perfectly preserves heat and absorbs noise;
- unlike the wooden floor, the cork is softer and more elastic, so it's more pleasant to walk along it;
- the floor is not burned (chemically inert).
The disadvantages of cork laminate can be attributed to the fact that it is afraid of high humidity. "Intolerance" arises from the fact that the base in the cork board of a floating type is a plate of fiberboard or MDF, which, upon contact with water, begins to swell. Cleaning of such a floor is best done with a strongly squeezed rag and do not forget about special compounds for cork coatings. If you want to avoid defects, it is better to get a cork for the floor moisture resistant. It is lacquered, which protects the gentle veneer from direct contact with the liquid. In addition, often the cork is slightly rough, which is due to its natural origin. Because of the constant friction, socks and tights begin to wear out faster, so you have to walk in slippers.
Cork floor in the interior
This type of flooring will fit well into the design of any interior. The big plus of a parquet is a certain exclusivity - the drawing in wooden plates is not repeated and not ordered, which makes the floor bright and interesting.
The assortment includes many types of cork coating, which first of all differs in the texture of the face layer. It can be lamellar, as in marble or fine-grained. Classical colors include shades of brown, sand, yellow and ocher. It is interesting to look coverings with colored impregnations.
