The history of the day of astronautics and aviation

April 9 in 1962, members of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR issued a decree on the establishment of the Day of Astronautics. Soon, in 1968, the International Aviation Federation, gave this holiday an international status.

It all started with how in 1961, a citizen of the Soviet Union, Yuri Gagarin, as a pilot of the spacecraft "Vostok", was the first who did not hesitate to fly into space. Having orbited the Earth, for 108 minutes, the Soviet pioneer began a new era of space flight with a man on board.

However, it must be said that the beginning of the history of the Day of Cosmonautics was also celebrated by the famous dogs Belka and Strelka, previously visited in the vastness of weightlessness, without which the flight of man into another space would be at great risk.

After such a breakthrough in space exploration, Yuri Gagarin received the early title of major and simultaneously Hero of the USSR. Since then, scientists, politicians, musicians and artists from all over the world have dreamed of meeting with a man who saw the Earth from the heights of hundreds of kilometers with his own eyes. Also, Gagarin opened new horizons to designers and fashion designers from the 60s who introduced a cosmic style in clothing that reflected the general fashion trends of that time.

Thanks to the heroism of Yuri Gagarin, the Day of Astronautics is celebrated today with respect and honor of those who made a significant contribution to the development of modern space technologies, without which we no longer represent our lives. In their honor museums, monuments are opened, solemn events are held.
