Each year, the countries of the former USSR mark another significant date for their calendars - Border Guard's Day. For someone this is a very insignificant event, but for people who gave their lives to serving in frontier troops - this is a way to recall the importance and complexity of their profession. Their family and friends know exactly what day the border guard is, and will certainly try to show signs of attention.
Day of the frontier guard in Russia
This holiday is celebrated by the Russians on May 28 of each year, starting from 1994, when the President of the Russian Federation established the Decree, which prescribes to celebrate it with the aim of restoring the traditions of the history of the border troops. According to this legislative act, the day of the border guard is marked with special splendor. There is a fireworks display on the main squares of the capital and other hero cities, marked by the presence of border districts and frontier troops. There are solemn rallies, parades and concerts of brass bands. These events are designed to draw public attention to the difficult duties of employees at the border of people who, in difficult conditions, fulfill their duty to the Motherland. Perfect gifts for the day of the border guard will be thematic souvenirs: T-shirts and caps with inscriptions, calendars, notebooks, etc. After all, the most important value of a gift is the attention and care shown.
Day of the frontier guard of Ukraine
Until 2003, Ukrainians celebrated this holiday on November 4. But this date somehow did not settle in the hearts and minds of citizens. That is why the President of Ukraine Decree ruled to postpone the date of the border guard on May 28. The Ukrainian border troops fulfill a very important task, namely, to protect and defend the borders of their state. Also their main functions are:
- control over compliance with the border regime;
- check the legality of crossing the border;
- carrying out intelligence and operational-investigative activities;
- confrontation of organized crime and illegal migration, etc.
The holiday of the border guard in the cities of Ukraine is accompanied by a huge number of concerts, speeches of high-ranking individuals, parades and folk festivals.
Day of Frontier Guard in Belarus
On May 28, 1918, the Council of People's Commissars adopted the Decree establishing the border guards. It is this date that is considered a holiday of the day of the border guard, annually celebrated in the Republic of Belarus. And already in 1995 the President recognized it as an official celebration calling on the people to honor the traditions and historical achievements of the defenders of the state border. The Belarusian border troops contribute to the development of state policy by carrying out such actions as:
- protection of economic interests of the republic;
- the fight against organized crime taking place at the border;
- facilitating the expansion of foreign economic relations, etc.
Day of the frontier guard in Kazakhstan
In Kazakhstan, the celebration of this day falls on August 18. Why this date? In 1992, Nursultan Nazarbayev approved a decree regulating the formation of border troops. This need arose as a result of the withdrawal of Kazakhstan from the USSR, which occurred in 1991. Such a sharp transition to independence became a real test for the government of the country, because the border service consisted entirely of Russian military liable. There was a need for independent training of personnel. However, at the moment all managerial personnel are trained inside the republic. The neighborhood of Kazakhstan with five other countries requires the attention of the border staff not only on the ground, but also on the water and in the air.
