Belgian cuisine is interesting not only for a variety of original dishes, but also for the invention of the invention of chocolates (though, first as a medicine for coughing). For the first time chocolate sweets were made in one of Brussels pharmacies. The most delicious and exquisite Belgian chocolates are truffles. The recipe for this mega-popular treat was invented, however, not by a Belgian, but by the inventive French confectioner Louis Dufour from Chambéry (French Savoy) in December 1895.
A bit of history
A brilliant idea came to Dufour at the time of the predicament, he figured out how to make chocolate truffles: mixed cream with cocoa powder and vanilla, then formed candies from this mixture. To make them more attractive in appearance, each product was immersed in melted chocolate and cooled. Candy had a huge success during the Christmas holidays season. Belgian chocolate truffles are popular in many countries around the world thanks to the activities of the Belgian firm Duc d'O.
How to make chocolate truffles at home?
Let's try to cook real truffles according to the recipe of the famous confectioner.
Ingredients:
- 200 g of black bitter chocolate;
- 60 ml of dark rum (or good cognac), of course, if you are preparing a dessert for children, alcohol should not be used;
- pinch of vanilla;
- 20 g of powdered sugar;
- gram 50 natural butter;
- 4 tablespoons ("with a slide") of quality cocoa powder;
- 50 g finely ground nuts (walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts, pistachios).
Preparation:
Chocolate (first crack) and butter put in a container and melt in a water bath with periodic stirring. Add 30 ml of rum and vanilla. Let us bring it to homogeneity. Remove the container from the fire, add the powdered sugar and nut flour. Add another 30 ml of rum (or almond liqueur). Mix the spatula to homogeneity, lightly cool the mass in the refrigerator. Then we collect a wet round spoon portion and roll the sweets in the form of balls. We put it on a clean plaque and put it in the refrigerator again. We take the candy from the refrigerator and crumble in cocoa powder (you can add coconut shavings). That's all - just like all ingenious. You can put ready-made sweets on a dish and serve to the table. Disintegrate at the moment. The recipe, of course, is not exactly classic, but it will be very tasty.
Cooking cakes

Ingredients for biscuit:
- 100 g of dark chocolate;
- 1 chicken egg;
- 30 g of natural butter;
- 1-2 tablespoons of medium-fat milk;
- pinch of vanilla;
- at the tip of the knife a little baking soda, extinguished with vinegar;
- 1 tablespoon of rum, cognac or almond liqueur;
- 2 tablespoons "with a hill" of wheat flour.
Ingredients for Cream:
- 200 ml of natural cream;
- 100 g of chocolate;
- 1 tablespoon of cognac, rum or liqueur.
Preparation:
Melt on the water bath oil, chocolate, carefully introduce milk. Let's cool a little, add flour, egg, vanilla and cognac. We bring it to homogeneity and bake a biscuit from this mixture. From the finished biscuit cut out a glass of circles. Now a cream. Melt the chocolate in a water bath, mix it with cream and add cognac. We bring it to homogeneity.
