Drops Nazoneks - a drug from the group of glucocorticoids, intended for topical use, with anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory action.
Composition and the form of release of drops in the nose of Nazonex
The main active substance of NAZONEX is mometasone furoate (50 μg / dose). As auxiliary substances, microcrystalline cellulose, glycerol, citric acid monohydrate, sodium citrate dihydrate, non-alcoholic chloride, polysorbate-80 and purified water are included in the preparation.
Instructions for the use of drops in the nose of Nazonex
The drug is used in the treatment of:
- seasonal and chronic (all-the-year-round) allergic rhinitis , including as a preventive agent;
- acute rhinosinusitis without signs of bacterial infection;
- as an auxiliary (against the background of antibiotic treatment) with sinusitis;
- polyposis of the nose with shortness of breath.
Before each use, the vial should be shaken and the dosing nozzle should be rinsed, especially if the vial with the drug has not been used for some time.
Prophylactic dose of the drug is 100 mcg (one injection into each nostril, once a day). It is recommended to start the preparation 2-4 weeks before the beginning of the flowering period. With allergic rhinitis in acute form and sinusitis, the drug is injected into each nostril twice a day. In severe cases and polyposis, an increase in the dose up to two injections per dose and more is permissible, but the maximum daily dose of the drug should not exceed 800 μg. For patients under 18 years of age, no more than 400 micrograms per day.
Contraindications and side effects
Drops Nazoneks are contraindicated in:
- nasal bleeding ;
- recent surgery or injury to the nose;
- tuberculosis;
- not cured bacterial infection affecting the nasal mucosa;
- not cured fungal, as well as systemic viral infections;
- individual allergic reaction.
Side effects with the use of Nazonex are quite rare and are mostly local in nature, but, nevertheless, there can be observed:
- bleeding from the nose;
- pharyngitis;
- irritation of the mucosa and burning sensation;
- headache;
- increased intracranial pressure;
- perforation of the nasal septum (with prolonged admission without medical supervision).
The probability of an overdose of the drug is less than 0.1%, due to the fact that it has an exclusively local effect and practically does not penetrate into the blood.
