Fertilizers for apple trees in autumn

The apple tree is considered to be an unpretentious plant, but still requires attention and care. And the autumn period is no exception. Rather, even on the contrary - it is from the correct autumn care for apple trees that its yields largely depend. And, in autumn, in addition to pruning and sanitizing, we also understand the application of fertilizers for apple trees.

Top dressing of apple trees in autumn

Caring for apple trees in autumn begins with the correct pruning of unnecessary twigs, whitewash of the trunk , harvesting the leaves and digging the soil at its trunk (it is advisable to do it with pitchforks), and only at the last stage fertilizers are introduced. Together with digging around the perimeter of the crown, we fill up with mineral fertilizer ( superphosphate ), organic matter and potash fertilizers.

Time to apply fertilizer for apple trees in the autumn comes around mid-September. If the weather at this time is dry, you need to drench abundantly the soil near the apple tree (along the perimeter of the crown). The earth should get wet to a depth of 1-1.5 meters, it takes 5 to 20 buckets, depending on the size and age of the tree.

The top dressing is combined with the watering process, since mineral and organic fertilizers for apple trees are better absorbed in the fall in the wet state.

How to prepare a fertilizer for apple trees?

For fertilizing apples, you need to use phosphorus-potassium fertilizers. You can buy them in ready form, and you can cook yourself. To do this, take 1 tbsp. spoon of potassium and 2 tbsp. spoons of double superphosate (granulated), dilute them in 10 liters of water. The resulting solution is poured under each tree in the calculation - 10 liters per square meter.

Fertilizers in the planting of apple trees in autumn

If you just plant a tree, then you need a special fertilizer, so that it is properly taken and started to bear fruit as early as possible. You will need to prepare a fertile soil mixture: mix the top layer of the earth with peat, humus, compost, rotted manure and organic, and with clay soil we also add sand.

This soil mixture must be buried in a pit, where a seedling of an apple tree is planned to be planted. If the soil is clayey - lay a drainage layer of stones. And if the soil is too sandy, you need to install a water-retaining layer of clay or silt instead of drainage. If the groundwater passes too close to the surface of the earth, then the apple should be planted not in a pit, but, on the contrary, on a mound up to 1.5 meters in height.

With the correct planting, care and fertilization of apple trees, you will annually harvest a large harvest from trees.
