Yesterday in Yerevan, the winner of the international humanitarian award Aurora Prize was awarded. They are Marguerite Barankits, which contains an orphanage "House Shalom" and a clinic "REMA" in Burundi. Awarded a famous Hollywood movie actor George Clooney, who is one of the people who donate money for this event.

Despite the fact that the award was established a year ago, the first award was held only now. The choice between the contenders for the right to be called the winner was difficult to do, because all 4 finalists made a huge contribution to saving lives by sacrificing themselves. However, having conferred, the philanthropists decided that this year it should be noted Marguerite Barankits. Thanks to this woman in East Africa, many orphans and refugees who suffered during the civil war are being helped.
Clooney, who arrived in Armenia a few days earlier, handed the award to the winner and said: "Marguerite Barankits is a vivid example of what one person can do, despite poverty, hardship and repression. Our prize is given to her for showing courage, heroism, dedication and dedication. I am sure that by her actions, this brave woman will inspire many of us for good deeds, standing up for the protection of those whose rights are constantly violated, those who need our help and support. "
Accepting Grand Prize Marguerite was very excited and touched, however, she said a few words: "The most precious thing that we have is human values. If a person has a sense of self-worth, his heart is full of love, and the soul of compassion, then nothing can scare him or stop him. This is beyond the power of war, hatred, repression, or poverty - anything. "
Marguerite Barankits received several awards
At the event, after handing out the nominal check for 100 000 dollars, George Clooney announced about another grandee worth $ 1 million. His Marguerite should give to those organizations that inspired her to commit courageous deeds. Barankits decided to distribute the cash prize among three companies that are struggling with child poverty and support orphans, refugees. The following organizations got the grand prize:
- the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess of Luxembourg;
- the Bridderlech Deelen Foundation;
- the foundation of Jean-François Peterbrock.
Marguerite explained her choice simply: "All these funds supported me when I first started. They never left me alone with problems. They, just like me, are close friendliness, compassion, unselfishness and dignity. "

Marguerite was chosen not without a winner
Her work as a philanthropist Barankits began after a terrible event in her life. When the civil war had just begun, the woman hid 72 men from the Hutu tribe, trying to save them from death. However, they were soon discovered, and Marguerite was forced to look at the execution of these innocent people. At that moment, the woman experienced a terrible shock, and her life completely changed: Barankits started to help refugees and orphans who suffered during the war. During her life Marguerite saved about 30,000 children from death, and in 2008 she created a clinic for the needy. More than 80,000 people have received help in this hospital.
