Goa: southern or northern?

Rest on Goa is becoming more popular among lovers of traveling. This exotic area attracts tourists with the amazing beauty of nature and the characteristic Indian spirit of freedom. Having visited India, you simply can not remain indifferent to its culture.

Do those planning a trip to Goa have a natural question: do you choose the north or south of the country for recreation? In order to answer it, one should at least, in theory, become acquainted with the main differences between the resorts of northern Goa from the south and the peculiarities of rest in each of these regions.

The difference between northern and southern Goa

Are we going to the South?

In southern Goa, people usually come to enjoy a relaxing holiday. Here is a good choice of large hotels located on a large well-maintained territory, as well as standard guesthouses. Beaches in comparison with northern Goa are not so populous, but the nature is simply charming. You can admire the famous Indian sunsets and deserted beaches. The sand on them is cleaner and lighter, and the sea water seems more blue. This is the main advantage of recreation in the south.

For families with children, choose the southern Goa. Here, far from noisy discos and beach parties, you can enjoy tranquility, visit various attractions, enjoy sunbathing and warm sea. Traditionally, tourists choose to relax such resorts in southern Goa, as Magdiora, Benaulim, Kolva and others.

There is an opinion that a holiday in the southern part of Goa is more expensive. This is confirmed by the prices of tourist packages. However, if you go "savage" and arrange a life yourself, then the prices in the south and north of Goa will not practically differ. In reality, the prices for housing in guesthouses are in the same price category; in some villages they are slightly higher, in others - a little lower. This also applies to food prices, including within the beach. Therefore, if you want to cut costs, choose either northern Goa, or a "wild" holiday in the south.

Let's choose the north?

North Goa - a classic beach party. Beaches Candolim and Calangute are called the center of night parties for their characteristic spirit of Indian traditions. Usually young people go here to get maximum positive emotions and adrenaline. As already mentioned above, vacation on a ticket here is much cheaper than in the southern part of the state. It was the northern Goa in its time "opened" for Western tourists hippies, fascinated by the scenic landscapes and simplicity of local customs. There are still several beaches untouched by civilization, and the famous psychedelic trans-parties attract modern tourists from all over the world, thirsting for thrill.

The most popular resorts of North Goa among tourists are Calangute, Anjuna, Baga, Vagator. The hotels here are mostly small, densely located and with small cozy beaches in shallow bays. For fans of seclusion, you can advise the fishing village of Arambol - also one of the best, albeit small, northern resorts of the state. In general, northern Goa is more popular with travelers, mainly due to the developed infrastructure of local resorts and informal recreation.

An unequivocal answer to the question "northern or southern Goa is better for rest in India" you will not find. To do this, you should consider that you want to receive from this trip - a vivid impression or a measured rest, night hangouts or family pastime. Think carefully and the "money" question. It will be your choice. And what kind of terrain you really like, you will understand, only after visiting both these reserved places personally.
