Because of what can this disease develop?
Such a disorder occurs most often due to the peculiarities of the structure of the urinary canal, in particular such a section as the kidney and the ureter. So the development of the disease can lead to:
- inadequate immersion of the ureter into the bladder cavity;
- obstruction (blockage) of the neck of the bladder itself (more often observed in men with inflammation of the prostate gland);
- a neurogenic bladder (damage to the innervation of the organ);
- swelling after kidney transplantation.
What are the symptoms of vesicoureteral reflux in adults?
As a rule, there are no specific signs in the presence of which it would be possible to establish a disease. That is why infringement is diagnosed at inspection in occasion of infection of urinary system quite often. The following symptomatology is noted:
- increased frequency of urination;
- decrease in the volume of excreted urine;
- soreness in the lower abdomen;
- change in the quality of urine (cloudy, viscous);
- the appearance of blood impurities in the urine;
- pain in the lumbar region and back.
Often when referring patients with complaints about these phenomena and diagnosed with vesicoureteral reflux, which in most cases is the root cause of these manifestations.
How is vesicoureteral reflux treated?
The main purpose of therapeutic measures in this violation is to prevent the process of irreversible damage to the kidneys.
Typically, treatment includes the following:
- endoscopic injection into the ureter. It is carried out with the help of a cystoscope under the control of video equipment. At the entry point of the ureter, a special substance is introduced into the bladder, which prevents the outflow of urine.
- reimplantation of ureters - surgical intervention, the purpose of which is to move the entrance to the bladder with the repositioning of the ureters.
The prognosis for treatment of vesicoureteral reflux by such methods is quite favorable.
