Moral Debt

Everyone knows that such a moral duty is known, but not everyone thought about how deep this concept can be and, first of all, what sacrifice it carries in itself. The imperative contained in the characterization of a moral duty obliges a person to act according to him regardless of his true desires and preferences. Making conscious choice in favor of moral principles and sacrificing our personal good, we first of all demonstrate the strength of character and will, adherence to those ideological postulates that we believe serve justice and are aimed at making the world around us better and cleaner than it is.

Do no harm!

In all religions of the world and the historical traditions of different peoples, conscience and duty, as moral values, have always been placed above everything else. And today, the principle of "Do no harm!" Lies at the basis of the social order and the legislative system of almost the entire civilized world.

Certainly, different situations can arise in life and it can sometimes be very difficult to make a choice, but one way or another, everyone does what the conscience tells (or allows). How correct are the decisions that we accept and whether they are worth the sacrifices, usually shows the time. But experience shows that the hardest thing is to choose from two evils and in this case, the importance of the upcoming moral choice and duty acquires a special meaning, especially when it comes to human lives.

Some people face this problem more often than others, because of their profession, for example, doctors, politicians or military. But even "mere mortals" also have numerous difficulties in life, especially when a crisis period comes, revealing all the positive and negative personal qualities of a person.

What to choose?

There are two kinds of moral duty: a debt to a close environment and a debt to society as a whole. And it is not uncommon for people to choose between them. But both of them, in turn, are divided into categories. For example, the debt to relatives includes also own benefit, and the debt to the society can consist only in a debt to a certain part of it, in particular, to representatives of a separate social group.

In any case, the moral standards that a person follows are always set before him boundaries that do not go follows. If he takes such a decision to the detriment of his own conscience and commits acts, guided by personal gain, it does not matter what kind of sphere he is talking about, it will inevitably affect his psychological state in the future, since even in the animal world there are certain norms of behavior, violation of which It is fraught with negative consequences for representatives of various species.

Regretting about wrong decisions always has a destructive effect on the psyche and the development of the human personality, so it is always necessary to remember moral and moral values. But the question of how much we manage to do this, everyone should already ask himself.
