Grand Palace in Peterhof

The Grand Palace is the central landmark of the palace and park ensemble "Peterhof", located in the Petrodvorets district of the city of St. Petersburg . The building was created as a summer imperial residence in 1714-1725 and was originally executed in a short style of "Peter's Baroque". However, later the Great Palace in Peterhof was rebuilt at the request of Elizabeth Petrovna in the style of the Palace of Versailles. The architect of a new image was F.B. Rastrelli.

Exposition of the palace

The palace is a richly decorated building of three floors, on which there are galleries and magnificent rooms. The Grand Palace of Peterhof has about 30 luxurious halls, decorated in Baroque style, with a lot of exquisite elements, painted ceilings and gilded walls.

The dance hall is located in the west wing of the building and has the most magnificent decoration from all the palace premises. It is decorated with golden wood carvings and maple wood. The throne room of the palace is the largest. It covers an area of ​​330 square meters. In the hall there are portraits of Peter I, Catherine I, Anna Ioanovna, Elizabeth Petrovna and a portrait of Catherine II. Chinese offices can be called the most exotic rooms of the palace. They are decorated with silk panels and lanterns from painted glass in Chinese style. In addition to these premises, in the palace you can find many more beautifully decorated rooms and rooms that impress the imagination with the sophistication of its decoration.

At the moment, the exposition of the Museum of the Grand Palace in Peterhof is 3,500 exhibits. This furniture, paintings, textiles, lamps, porcelain and other items belonging to crowned owners.

An excursion to the Grand Palace of Peterhof will cost visitors in 200 rubles. Certain categories of citizens have the right to a free visit to the museum. These include:

Opening hours of the Grand Palace in Peterhof: from 10:30 to 19:00 on weekdays. On Saturdays from 10:30 to 21:00. Monday is a day off. Every last Tuesday of the month is a sanitary day.

The mode of operation of the cash desks of the Grand Palace of Peterhof: on weekdays from 10:30 to 17:45, on Saturday from 10:30 to 19:45. Entry to the palace by ticket is possible no later than one hour before the closing of the museum.
