Those who are just planning to try themselves in this interesting lesson will come to the rescue of our advice.

Home Soap Making for Beginners

So, it is decided - we will cook the soap ourselves. What do we need for this?

  1. Dishes and inventory. When selecting a saucepan and other kitchen appliances for boiling soap, the beginning soap maker should take into account that for culinary purposes they will not have to be used. Similarly, you should not do soap preparation in parallel with the preparation of food, or store not ripened soap next to food. To cook soap, you need a medium-sized saucepan in which all components, a mixer, molds of silicone or glass will be mixed. Metal soap molds are not recommended, as the metal can enter with a chemical reaction with soap components.
  2. The main components. The composition of soap includes: alkali (caustic soda, caustic soda, sodium hydroxide), fats (vegetable or animal), aromatic oils and liquids (broths of herbs, water, milk, coffee).

Cooking soap at home is not only an exciting process, but also painstaking, not tolerating disorder and requiring unconditional compliance with safety regulations. That is why, before starting work, it is necessary to carefully plan the workplace and take care of your own safety: wear comfortable clothes that securely cover the entire body, remove hair under a kerchief, wear protective gloves. Remember that all components of soap can cause irreparable harm to human skin! Only after going through all the stages of cooking, soap becomes safe for humans.

Soap-making recipes for beginners

To create handmade soap, beginners should use the so-called cold method. The key points of this method are:

  1. Liquid oils are admixed with pre-melted solid oils.
  2. In the resulting mixture, we mix the prepared alkaline solution ahead of time, paying attention to the fact that the temperatures of the constituents are the same.
  3. The resulting soapy semi-finished product is heated to a temperature of 70-80 degrees, without stopping the stirring with a spoon, until a so-called "soap trail" appears on its surface.
  4. After that, you can add aromatic oils, dyes, other ingredients (ground nutshell, for example, to create a scrub effect) in the soap.
  5. The resulting mixture is again thoroughly mixed, laid out in the form, wrapped and set aside for a day.
  6. After a day, the soap can be extracted from the mold and divided into portions, but it is too early to use it for its intended purpose. To the full readiness should pass at least a month, during which the soap will ripen in a well-ventilated room.

To make it easier for yourself, starting soaps should be used as a basis for a purchased baby soap, which is characterized by a low content of dyes and fragrances.
