Summer dress with own hands

Each mother loves to dress her little princess in beautiful dresses, and, of course, every day the outfit must be different, because no girl, even such a small one, will get out twice in one dress. Diversify the wardrobe of a small fashionista can be a very original way - sew a light summer dress with your own hands.

Sewing a summer dress with your own hands can seem very difficult at first glance, however, if you have at least a little experience of cutting and sewing, everything will turn out easily and quickly. But even if there is not one, you can learn how to sew with a child's dress.

A simple summer dress with your own hands

So, for sewing a children's dress, we need to prepare the following materials:

  1. Cloth on the dress. You can choose any color, but this simple model of a summer dress looks interesting enough in a checkered coloring. Much attention should be given to the composition of the fabric: in synthetics, the child will be very hot, because the ideal is a cotton or cotton cloth.
  2. Six large buttons, in our case white. Here, too, you can show your imagination and pick up the color buttons for the coloring of the dress, you can even with funny drawings.
  3. Heavy cardboard for the pattern.
  4. Tools for work: a sewing machine (without it it will be very difficult) with a set of needles , scissors, thread, chalk for patterning or a piece of laundry soap, a simple pencil, an iron.

All is ready? So, we can start work.

How to sew a summer dress quickly?

  1. The first thing we do is draw patterns on a thick cardboard for a summer dress. Draw the first pattern - half back. We will need one such detail for sewing a dress.
  2. The next pattern is part of the forehead. Let's pay attention to the original tailoring of the front part of the dress, consisting of three parts: in the picture a thin line marks the middle of the front of the future summer dress. Such elements we need four - two purl and two facial.
  3. Next, proceeding from the previous pattern, we make the third element of the front part. We draw attention to the fact that you need to cut out the fabric, having doubled it beforehand. We also make two elements - purl and facial.
  4. The last pattern is half of the sleeve, we calculate it based on their previous details. Sleeves also need two.
  5. Then, using a chalk or laundry soap, we transfer the dress elements from the pattern to the fabric, not forgetting the tolerances on the seams, then cut out.
  6. Now the tolerances on the seams are carefully and smoothly ironed.
  7. Then we begin to sew from the wrong side of the paired front elements of the summer dress.
  8. We turn it to the front. It turned out two front elements.
  9. Now we sew the back.
  10. It turned out a "waistcoat" dress.
  11. Now in the same way we sew the two halves of the last element of the front part of the dress from the wrong side. Let's try it on the "waistcoat", but do not rush it yet.
  12. Note on the front element of the place where the buttons will be located.
  13. Then, using a special seam, we sew buttons under the buttons. If your machine does not have such a function, you can do it manually.
  14. We sew six buttonholes. Then with pins, attach the front part to the "waistcoat".
  15. Now let's take care of our sleeves. Double the edge and iron it.
  16. Then we sew the winglet to the "waistcoat", slightly attaching it to the shoulder.
  17. Next, overlay the edges from the wrong side.
  18. We sew the sleeve under the arm and make an overlock.
  19. Then we turn the edge over the smoothed bends and fix it with a pin.
  20. Now we'll stretch the edge of the sleeve.
  21. Next we measure the cut of fabric on the skirt of the dress. We choose the length from our own preferences, the best option is to the knees.
  22. Sew the future skirt on the side, we make an overlock.
  23. Then we'll attach the skirt at the waist in such a way that the length of the circumference coincides with the girth of the "waistcoat", we make an overlock.
  24. Fold and stitch the edge of the skirt of a summer light dress.
  25. Now we sew the skirt to the waistcoat. Our summer dress is ready, the trifle remains - we sew buttons.

That's so easy and quickly we managed to sew a light baby dress with our own hands. We enjoy the result of our work.
