Hamsters are clean animals, they can perfectly clean their fur on their own. It's easy enough to clean the cage. But the situations in life are different, sometimes even this furry animal can find how to get dirty. Here, knowledge is useful, like washing a hamster.
Sand baths
Hamster will like to brush her fur coat in the sand, especially since this way of bathing is natural and safe for him. For these purposes, you can buy a special swimsuit, but any other container is also suitable. In it a thin layer is poured a special sand, for example, for chinchillas . This concludes with instructions on how to bathe a hamster in the sand, as the animal itself will happily climb into the clean sand to swat. But do not leave a bath in the cage, the animal can start using it as a hiding place for its supplies or as a toilet.
How can you wash hamsters in water?
If the animal managed to get dirty so that the sand baths and self-cleaning did not help, you can wipe it with a damp cloth, after which it is necessary to dry it gently with a towel. It happens that even after such procedure the animal remains dirty, then it is possible to bathe hamsters, but adhering to the rules:
- wash only the body, never wet your head, especially to protect the ears and eyes of the animal;
- do not use any detergent;
- wash under a warm and weak stream of water;
- minimize the procedure to avoid stress in the animal;
- Delicately wipe the rodent dry so that it does not catch cold.
Whether the hamsters are washed depends on the circumstances. Washing is not necessary as a hygienic procedure, but in special and rare cases, water procedures are still allowed. The rodent does not like water, he can have serious stress, so it is worth thinking twice about whether or not he really needs a bathroom.
