In ARI and ARVI, as well as various types of angina, as a rule, there is an increase in lymph nodes. They can become inflamed, which is accompanied by pain syndrome, especially when probing. In medicine, the described condition is called lymphadenopathy - the symptoms of this pathology differ depending on the intensity and localization of the pathological process, the factors that provoked it.
The main signs of lymphadenopathy
The most obvious clinical manifestation of the ailment in question is an increase in the size of the lymph node. In the inflammatory genesis of lymphadenopathy, it is noted that it is painful when palpated and pressed, compressing surrounding tissues.
Other characteristics:
- sweating at night;
- causeless weight loss;
- increase in the size of the spleen and liver;
- constantly elevated body temperature;
- local hyperthermia and hyperemia near the affected lymph node;
- swelling of soft tissue;
- skin rashes.
It is worth noting that with different forms of the disease the clinic may differ slightly.
Symptoms of cervical and axillary lymphadenopathy
The signs of the described types of pathology include:
- enlargement of lymph nodes in diameter;
- soreness during the touch;
- small pimples on the skin near the affected area;
- subfebrile body temperature or higher.
Symptoms of mediastinal lymphadenopathy
In this case there is inflammation and swelling of the mediastinal lymph nodes. It is accompanied by the following clinical manifestations:
- one-sided pain in the zone of mediastinum, irradiating in the upper back and shoulder girdle;
- venous hypertension;
- severe dizziness at rest;
- heart rhythm disturbances;
- headache;
- acrocyanosis, cyanosis of the skin;
- difficulty breathing and swallowing;
- spastic cough;
- dyspnea;
- decreased ability to work;
- hyperhidrosis ;
- weakness.
Symptoms of retroperitoneal lymphadenopathy
The main signs of this form of pathology:
- diarrhea;
- acute paroxysmal pain in the abdomen;
- short-term fever;
- pain in the back, in the lumbar region.
Most often retroperitoneal lymphadenopathy occurs against a background of malignant neoplasms.
What are the symptoms of generalized lymphadenopathy?
The considered condition is considered generalized if there is an increase and inflammation of the lymph nodes in more than 3 zones. In this case, all the symptoms characteristic of lymphadenopathy in each individual area are observed.
