Malamute - description of the breed

Many of us dreamed of a dog as a child. And something still dreams, does not it? You come home - and you already waited for a furry friend with your eyes as faithful as they seem, only in dogs. What if he is independent enough? And yet - open, confident and friendly? Meet the Malamute!

Origin of the breed

The full name of this breed indicates its homeland - Alaska. Alaskan malamutes are rather large dogs, whose growth exceeds half a meter (63 cm in males and 58 cm in females). Continuing the description of the malamute breed, it is worth noting that the weight of these animals fluctuates around 38 and 34 kg, respectively. One can not help saying about their physical strength and endurance: it's not for nothing that this is primarily a sled dog .

As it is easy to guess, with such peculiarities malamutes feel comfortable where they have the opportunity to lead an energetic way of life - which, unfortunately, usually can not give city apartments. In addition, these strong self-sufficient creatures will not experience pleasure if other animals live in the house besides them.

But the appearance of a new member of the family such dogs will be perceived with a joyful excitement. This is the case when the child will have a reliable shaggy friend standing behind him with a mountain. Suffice it to cite the fact that historically Malamut was the reason why the Alaska Natives trusted to transport children.

Alaskan Alamut can not but attract attention to itself on the street. The reason for this is not only his considerable growth, but also a certain similarity with the wolf: light marks are shaded by different shades of gray palette, from light to very saturated (although there is also a monochromatic white color). That's why some people who meet you, with malamute, can express an unrelenting desire to change the side of the street.

But this impression is superficial. Despite all their strength, the malamute is a very restrained animal with a really pleasant character, as the description of the breed shows. In addition, malamutes are surprisingly intelligent animals. At the same time, their mind and independence are combined with touching gullibility, therefore it is not necessary to name the role of the guard dog for the malamute.

How to care for malamute?

Deciding to take in the family of a malamute puppy, it is worth considering that he will be more moving and playful than his soft-quiet older brethren. It is important not to skimp on the time given to him: attention and moving classes - a pledge that your malamute will grow up healthy and harmonious. Remember that you should spend at least an hour a day in walks with him.

Continuing the theme of caring for malamute, it should be noted that he has a thick coat. You do not have to worry when she starts to stay on the floor: twice a year your friend moults. In addition, a couple of times a week it needs to be combed. But this description of the characteristics of dogs of the Malamute breed should not scare you - as every woman knows perfectly, every beauty needs care.

But the Alaskan Alamites themselves take care of the purity of their fur. You will not smell from him that in the world of dogs, you will agree, is not always met. You only need to use dry shampoo every two months. You can not, of course, forget about keeping claws and teeth in order; the latter should be cleaned at least every other day.

So, the Alaskan Malamute, the breed description of which you just read, is a very original and interesting representative of the canine tribe. As already noted, he is demanding of space and the possibility of active games, so the ideal option for his establishment is the situation when the family lives in a private house. However, life in the apartment will have its own advantages for the malamute: in a rather limited space it will inevitably be with you in closer contact, which is also important for such a sociable dog.
