Modern children

There is no doubt that modern children are very different from children 20 and 50 years ago. The main reason for this is, of course, the fact that today's children are growing in an entirely different information field, in tens and hundreds of times. They, like a sponge, absorb the information that the modern world provides with abundant. It's not at all surprising that our children are so unlike us.

Modern children - what are they?

  1. Requiring continuous and continuous monitoring . Surely your mother told you something like: "When you were 2 years old, I could calmly come down from the 5th floor to throw out the garbage, leaving you at home. With your son, this number will not work - you can stay for 2 minutes without an apartment. " Indeed, modern children, even at a very early age, are unusually nimble, instantly act and switch attention. All this allows them to bear chaos and destruction at a frantic pace. And if we were with you, when we were preschool children, our parents could easily take half a dozen toys for a half hour and, for example, have a quiet dinner, then we, becoming parents, should be in direct direct contact with the child. Otherwise, it is inevitable at best - a breakdown of household property, and at worst - injuries and other unpleasant consequences. After all, look at what modern children play, even the smallest ones: not into cubes and pyramids, but into mobile phones and toasters - they absolutely need something that goes beyond the usual range of toys. And technical progress every year provides them with new and new "toys".
  2. Requiring attention to themselves , their thoughts, having and upholding their opinions. Our mothers, for example, on a walk, often provided us, children, to themselves, and meanwhile could read a newspaper or talk among themselves. Now it is very rare to see such a picture. The modern child will persistently pull at the sleeve of his mother, stopping to chat with a friend, to talk into the conversation and do everything possible to attract attention until he receives it. And if you do not react to this "concert", it will inevitably turn into a serious insult, and possibly, a trauma to the baby.
  3. All-knowing . Modern children have a huge need for information, but also a perfectly developed ability to perceive and process it. But they choose to study, of course, the information that they are most interested in. And television and the Internet, as we have already said, provide any information in unlimited quantities. We can not discount the fact that the Internet plays a huge role in the upbringing of a modern child. But in the access of children to the worldwide network there are also some dangers: the availability of information that threatens normal psycho-emotional development (cruelty, pornography, etc.); the formation of Internet addiction; superficial attitude towards learning (because of the possibility of downloading finished essays, etc.).

Problems of children in modern society

  1. Increasing alienation from parents, lack of attention, or, conversely, a hyperope. All parents find their ways to deal with the problems of modern society: some moms to earn early leave the maternity leave and give very young children to the nursery; others, trying as safely as possible to protect the child from the frightening sides of life, too, as they say, "graze" their child. Both introduce an imbalance in the relationship of parents and children.
  2. The problem of socialization. In an age when people communicate with each other for the most part over the phone and on the Internet, it is also more difficult for children to adapt to direct communication with peers. In addition, the problems of perception of children with any peculiarities (both with a minus sign and with a plus sign) are exacerbated: gifted, disabled, etc.
  3. Unrestricted access to information, mentioned above, does not have the best effect on the development of a weak child's psyche.
  4. Observance of the rights of the child in the modern world is becoming a problem realized by the children themselves: they are fighting for their rights, centers for legal assistance to children are being created, etc.

We have named here only some features and problems of modern children. But this is enough to understand: it is impossible to apply the approaches and methods that were actual 20, 30, 40 and 50 years ago in the upbringing of the modern child. Each new generation is unique, and every child is unique. So the key to the success of parents will be an individual approach, attentive attitude to the child and a positive attitude.
