Not so long ago in the city of Cape Town (South Africa) the Museum of Diamonds was opened, after all, South Africa is one of the world leaders in the field of mining these precious stones. Therefore, they decided to create exhibition halls in which the history of the fishery and unique stones are presented.

History of diamond mining

South Africa has made a special contribution to the development of the world's mining of precious stones.

Deposits of precious stones were discovered almost 150 years ago - in 1867. It took only a few years, this region took the first place in production. In those years more than 95% of all diamonds were sought here. And until now the country remains one of the largest diamond exporters to the world market, offering high-quality stones.

Expositions of the museum

During a visit to the museum and inspection of its expositions, tourists learn all about mining and processing diamonds - in particular, in reality, the work of the cutter will be demonstrated.

The stands feature replicas of the most famous gems, among which the unique "Cullinan". This is the largest diamond produced in the history of mankind, whose weight exceeds 3000 carats.

Also here you can admire an unsurpassed, natural diamond of yellow color, the uniqueness of which lies in the unique natural impregnation of the profile of a woman.

Presented and many other stones that will fascinate visitors. Exposures themselves are not large - to inspect the entire museum will take just over half an hour. At the exit visitors will be able to purchase precious stones at an affordable price.

Where is?

The Diamond Museum is located directly in the center of Cape Town , in the Klok Tower shopping complex, on the waterfront of Waterfront.

If you travel by private transport, then you can park the car in the parking lot under the shopping complex - there is an underground guarded parking lot. Also, the Museum is easily accessible by public transport.

Work schedule and visit details

The Museum of Diamonds works seven days a week. Its doors are open from 9:00 to 21:00. The entrance fee for pensioners, elderly people and children (up to 14 years) is not charged. For other visitors the entrance ticket will cost 50 rand (just over 3 US dollars).

In a group visit, tourists are divided into groups of 10 people. The time interval between each group visit is 10 minutes.
