Museum of Science


The Museum of Science in Seoul opened its doors for visitors for the first time in November 2008. The purpose of the museum is to increase interest in science in children, but adults are also interested here. The National Museum of Science in Seoul is an entertaining and educational space where children and adults can learn many new things. Visitors are invited to see exhibitions devoted to the history of science and technology, as well as new industrial technologies. Half of the exhibits are interactive.

Architecture of the museum

The Museum of Science in Seoul is huge. The main building has the shape of an airplane on take-off, symbolizing the science leading to the future. It has 2 floors with 6 permanent exhibition halls, 1 hall for special exhibitions and a large open space with 6 different theme parks.

Exhibitions

In the main building there are more than 26 practical programs, working during the day for children and adults. In the permanent halls the following exhibitions are presented:

  1. Aerospace. Here you can test the flight simulator and visit the missile launch control center.
  2. Hi-tech. This exhibition covers medical research, biology, robotics, energy and the environment. There are training activities for creating your own digital city, scanning yourself to create an avatar and view stunning robots.
  3. Traditional science. In this room are applied sciences and oriental medicine.
  4. Natural history. Here, visitors will find a large number of dinosaurs, a fun interactive geological tour of the Korean Peninsula, as well as a diorama of Korea's land and ocean ecosystem.

Interactive games are held at exhibitions. Children like open-air exhibitions with spaceships, dinosaurs and a botanical garden most of all. The museum has its own planetarium.

How to get there?

To get to the Science Museum in Seoul, you need to go to the Grand Park station by metro line # 4 and take exit # 5.
