Painting of wooden stairs

The staircase in the house is most often made of wood. This universal material has many advantages, but also some drawbacks, one of which is short-lived. And it manifests itself mainly with improper or poor-quality wood painting. Let's try to figure out what the painting of a wooden staircase in two colors, made by own hands, should be.

  1. For painting wooden stairs, we will need such materials and tools:
  • To begin with, you need to thoroughly clean and plaster all irregularities on the steps. After 2-3 days, the pile on the wood will rise, so it is advisable to conduct another grinding and priming of steps for painting. And only now you can proceed with the basic painting. First, we paint with white enamel the railing of our stairs, and then we turn to painting the wooden degrees of the stairs. To do this, use white enamel, roller and brush. We'll start the work from the upper stage - it's convenient, and the quality of the painting can be estimated.
  • After the paint has dried well, we mark with the help of a tape measure and a triangle even stripes located at the same distance from the edges of the ladder. We glue along this marking tape or tape tape.
  • Stepping back a few centimeters from the resulting strips, draw parallel stripes and also paste along them an adhesive tape.
  • Spacing between the two tape is carefully painted over with gray paint.
  • And now with the same gray paint, using a roller, we paint the middle of the steps between the pasted tapes. Carefully remove the pasted strips of tape and let the paint dry thoroughly. In order for the staircase to serve us longer, after painting, cover the steps of the wooden staircase with a transparent varnish in 2-3 layers.
  • Use the ladder will be possible only after the paint dries completely on it. Since in different rooms there are different temperature regimes and humidity, it is therefore better to increase the time allowed for the drying of paint and varnish, in comparison with the one specified in their instructions.

If you correctly completed all the preparatory and finishing work on painting the stairs, then soon you will have a beautiful and durable interior addition in your house.
